Dietrich Lowe is the youngest Shiao-Zhang of Warrior House Dai Da Chi. A skilled MechWarrior, he lacks the leadership capacity of many of the other warrior house masters and is often called “The Liao Star Colonel” behind his back. This is in no small part due to the fact he has integrated a lot of the Clan’s Trial of Position systems into House Dai Da Chi to effectively promote the best warriors into positions of command.
Early Career
Dietrich Lowe was born on Drozan to a wealthy landowner family and was expected to simply take up the mantle of his father to lead the company, but he ran away from home to join the Dai Da Chi’s warrior monastery instead at the age of 12. Against the pleas of his family, the Warrior House accepted him and rebuffed the Lowe family, saying that service to the state was more important than service to one’s kin.
Completing his secondary education while also following a strict martial regimen, Dietrich Lower became well acquainted with the way the Warrior Houses worked. During his military training, his parents did pay for the procurement of a new Battlemech which they gifted the House as an apology for their earlier behavior. Using this Vindicator, Dietrich Lowe completed his training and reached the status of Ban-Zhang.
Rapid Ascension
Dietrich Lowe’s rapid ascension started during the Battle of Palos, where he rallied his compatriot during the first battle and allowed them to escape. From there he rose to a Lance commander position (Pai-Zhang) and during the second battle for Palos, led his lance in a devastating assault against the Federated Suns front line, which secured him a Lien-Zhang position. As the House Master was ready to retire, he saw Dietrich as a worthy replacement for him, leading to his ascension to Shiao-Zhang in 3140.
Revision to the Doctrine
One thing Dietrich Lowe admired about the Clans was the way they handled military ranks. In an organization like a Warrior House, skill in combat and martial excellence should take precedence over age or family ties, in his opinion. By 3142, new recruits that completed their training at the temple on Drozan were given a version of the Blooding using powered down weapons and training rounds. Going forward, positions within House Dai Da Chi would be won by strength of arms, furthering the comparison between them and a Clan sibko and touman.
