Kallon has been a major manufacturer since the days of the Star League, primarily known for their Rifleman and Wolverine designs. Split between multiple nations, especially in the days of the disunited Free Worlds League, Kallon has always had to fight for their place in the sun, generally against legal red tape. Their Federated division, Kallon Weapon Industries, allowed some stability to the business in that era. With the reunion of the League and the creation of the Wolf Empire, Kallon has expanded to more markets and renegotiated their deals with their various customers.

Recent History

Kallon was mostly lucky in that it was already a “multi-national” by the time the Free Worlds League imploded. As a result, they already had trade agreements and documents signed and ready to go, their lawyers ready to go with new planetary governments and regional powers. The stability granted by their division, Kallon Weapon Industries, guaranteed they kept a good credit score and reputation during the early days of the Republican Era.

Things somewhat changed as the League reformed and tried curtailing Kallon once again. Again, it turned into a legal battle between the League’s political elite and the highly skilled retainer lawyers of Kallon, which ended with them being guaranteed preferential treatment as a “League corporation” rather than a multinational, guaranteeing better tax rate and incentives.

Clan Wolf invaded multiple worlds in the League and Lyran Commonwealth in the formation of the Wolf Empire, with Kallon being in the line of fire at the time. While the victory on Loyalty originally brought pride to the company, they realized quickly after the Wolves signed agreements to use their facility on Thermopolis that they probably should have “lost that fight” as well. Revenue from the Thermopolis factory has exploded and the technology it builds is slowly leaking out to other Kallon facilities, to the joy of investors.

Manufacturing

Asuncion

The Asuncion’s facilities were used by the Word of Blake Protectorate while it was under their control, building some more advanced machines. Most of that technology was dismantled by the Jihadis before they left or destroyed by the Republic of the Sphere in their purge of Blakist remnants.

BattleMechs

Aerospace Fighter

Bernardo

A smaller facility, the Bernardo facility never had the largest output of the corporation at large. They are, however, a steady producer and have petitioned to increase the size of the facility.

BattleMechs

Loyalty

The Loyalty factory mainly built dropship in the past, but started building the Eris and its derivative, the Hel, in the mid 3120s. There are plans to further expand the lines to start producing the machines which were being built on Thermopolis in the past.

BattleMech

DropShip

Vehicle

Aerospace Fighter

Nanking

The Nanking facility has passed between the hands of Kallon itself and their Federated division Kallon Weapon Industries as the Federated Suns held the world. There was minimal damage to the facility during the fighting over the planet, and the general “profit” was moved from one pocket to the other.

BattleMech

Vehicle

Thermopolis

The Thermopolis factory is under the purview of Clan Wolf, and has been upgraded to provide Clan standard equipment for a variety of BattleMechs. The production lines have been moved over from their old models to new Clan Wolf OmniMechs.

Effective Technology Level

Kallon’s various facilities used to have a bit of a technical discrepancy, which they compensated for by shipping parts from one facility to another. As an example, the Asuncion and Bernardo facility does not have an orbital endo-steel mill, while the Thermopolis and Nanking ones do. Most of the facilities have the advanced material technology to build XL engines and Double Heat Sinks, but it is limited in some cases due to getting the facilities supplied. Ferro-fibrous foundries are available at all locations.

Kallon’s access to Clan technology used to be extremely limited, but with Clan Wolf taking over Thermopolis, they have rapidly expanded their “arsenal” of available Clan technology. While they are not allowed to export any parts from their Thermopolis facilities, they have been leaking key informations to their headquarter and are in the process of upgrading some of their facilities.

Here is a list of Clan-graded equipment Kallon can manufacture at their non-Thermopolis installations:

  • Prototype Endo-Steel
  • Prototype Advanced Armors (Ferro-fibrous, Reflective, Reactive)
  • Prototype SRM / Advanced SRM
  • Prototype ER Lasers
