Grumium Creations

Grumium is a mid-sized manufacturer of weaponry from the former Free Rasalhague Republic, based on Grumium. One of the few FRR worlds that had not fallen to the Clans, Grumium had received significant investments from ComStar and served as a weapons supplier for the likes of the Word of Blake during the Jihad. They were always way down the line in terms of supplier for Clan Ghost Bear, meaning they haven’t progressed much since the start of the Republican Era.

Recent History

Grumium’s main facilities had been damaged by a Manei Domini force at the tail end of the Jihad, destroying part of their facilities. Being a “least concern” manufacturer, the central planning of the Ghost Bear merchant caste never put cash down to repair these facilities. The only thing which saved them from bankruptcy was the introduction of the Viking IIC, which they built in partenership to Arc-Royal MechWorks.

The Ghost Bear touman bought the Viking IIC for their garrison and provisional clusters in decent amounts, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the company from folding. The facilities on Grumium were put in abeyance as the CEO liquidated their assets and tried to sell their intellectual property rights, which Bergan scooped up.

Under Bergan

Grumium would have just been another factory in the Bergan arsenal if not for an anti-trust and anti-monopoly lawsuit done by the former CEO of Grumium. In a strange turn of event, the factory and facilities on Grumium were “returned” to them in 3102 in a trade agreement with Bergan which would see the factory managed by a Grumium trust rather than their centrally managed system.

The company was also allowed to export equipment more openly than most other Rasalhague Dominion businesses, outside a Stop Sell towards the Draconis Combine. The introduction of the Cyclops C has renewed the good fortunes of Grumium. With the permission to export these designs to friendly states, they are accumulating capital to buy themselves back completely from the Bergan holding shares.

Effective Technology Level

Grumium is not an advanced weapons manufacturer, even with investments from the Rasalhague Dominion. They have been able to move forward with the production of the Viking IIC with help from Arc-Royal MechWorks, which allowed them to produce a limited amount of Clan-graded equipment. The biggest advantage Grumium has is their understanding of advanced long range missile technology combined with an orbital endo-steel mill capable of handling Clan-graded materials.
