George Hasek II is the heir to the throne of New Syrtis and a top-level military officer in the Armed Forces of the Federated Commonwealth. While still quite young, he has already climbed to some of the higher levels in the military due to his talent rather than an accident of birth. His popularity amongst the command staff has translated to being quite popular with the average troops, even after he had to put back the Fourth Donegal Guards together.
Early Life
George spent a good amount of time with his mother and father in his youth, living on New Avalon rather than New Syrtis. From a young age, he took pleasure in “piecing things together”, reading newspaper and other sources to make maps, charts and such. In 3041, he had done a perfect recreation of the entire AFFC military deployment, which got Justin Allard from MIIO worried that Morgan Hasek-Davion was being careless with classified documents around his home.
After interrogating Morgan, Justin met with young George, who was happy to show “Uncle Justin” how he had done the deed. Newspaper clipping, open-source documents and ComStar announcements had been piled into a large binder, with a typed report at the very end. Justin then challenged the young teenager to do the same for the Free Worlds League, and two weeks later, George presented his findings to MIIO, which matched exactly what they had compiled at the time.
This attention to details was repeated in George’s schoolwork, and he skipped grades in primary and secondary school, joining the New Avalon Institute of Science Gifted program in 3044, spending close to two years doing advanced mathematics, physics and philosophy courses. He then joined The Warrior’s Hall on New Syrtis as his mother had moved back to their family estate to complete his MechWarrior training, where he had average results. He then transferred to the War College of Goshen to complete his officer training, technically giving him 3 degrees from 3 of the top schools in the Federated Commonwealth.
This gave him a Captain commission with the Sixth Syrtis Fusiliers, with which he stayed only a short period before he was offered advanced officer training at the Sakhara Academy for logistics and tactical training. He completed the 2 year course in a single year and was then sent to the Capellan March regional command on a Major commission. Oh, and all the while, George Hasek was also completing a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Sakhalin. Because he could.
Military Career
In the Capellan March Regional Command, George Hasek was instrumental in the mustering and preparation of new units for the Syrtis Fusiliers. First was the recreation of the Ninth Syrtis Fusiliers using local militia units which had met operational standards and several Leopard-class dropships that had been recently built but never attributed to units that were destroyed or disbanded during the Clan invasion. This was followed up with the recreation of the Tenth and Twelfth Fusiliers from other militia units that were just below the standards previously stated. While these units were generally using more antiquated machines, upgrade kits produced locally were distributed for the more common BattleMechs to increase effectiveness of the units.
A New Commander
Things took a turn for George when the Fifth Succession War began, followed by the Capellan Operation GUAN XING. His father called him directly to meet with him after the disastrous defeat of the Fourth Donegal Guards on Velhas. While the unit had no lost much of their force, their leadership was compromised and showed signs of dereliction of duty. Against George’s wish, Duke Hasek-Davion gave a field promotion to his son to Colonel and appointed him as the new commander of the Fourth Donegal Guards. Morgan then asked George to get a new corp of senior officers for the unit as it needed to be completely replaced.
The Lyran soldiers in the Fourth Donegal were quite angry as to what was happening, but George Hasek turned this anger into useful energy. Reports had told him that while Manapire had falled to the Capellan Confederation, the countryside was still resisting and fighting the occupying forces. He requested the Fourth Donegal be deployed to Manapire so they could retake the world while also raising the morale of his troops. While the resulting operation was simple, it did bring the Fourth back from the brink with a successful mission.
Meeting his Future Wife
The Fourth Donegal was ordered to stand down after the recapture of Manapire, giving them time to rest, recover and reequip their unit. While new ‘mechs were coming from the standard sources like Johnston, Kallon and Achernar, new shipments started coming in from the St. Ives Compact factories on Warlock and St. Ives as well. By late 3060, the Fourth Donegal Guards was back to decent operational status, and they received orders from the new Allied Command in the region to meet up with the Second St. Ives Lancers.
Both units were assigned to recapture Immenstadt, which was seen as a simple enough task. During that time, he met with then Major Cassandra Allard-Liao, with which he struck a quick friendship. Through the operation on Immenstadt, George Hasek was promoted to Leftenant General and put in charge of the complete Fourth Donegal RCT rather than only the ‘Mech regiment.
From there, he planned a joint assault on the Capellan world of Hustaing with the Second St. Ives Lancers and the Ninth Syrtis Fusiliers in an overwhelming display of force meant to scare the Capellan strategios. The planet fell quickly but it didn’t have the expected result, as the Capellans kept fighting nonetheless. During that operation, George and Cassandra Allard-Liao became even closer and officially began “courting”, following old traditions from both families.
Later Stages of the War
The next major operation George Hasek took part in was the capture of Hexare. This turned out to be a much longer fight than most analysts expected, mostly as both the AFFC and CCAF had reached a point in the war where resources on the front-line were running dry. Sang-Shao Nerekov met with Hasek’s troops on Hexare for a long series of siege battles where neither sides had much artillery to bring to bear. Even with the support of the Second St. Ives Lancers and Second St. Ives Jannisaries, it took two years for Hexare to officially be captured.
After the fight, the Fourth Donegal was rotated back to Manapire, where they had to contend with Capellan raiders throughout the last year or so of the Fifth Succession War. The Capellan forces were trying mostly to keep George Hasek from returning to the front, while also gathering as much advanced technology as they could from salvage.
Personal Life
George Hasek II has not changed much from his youth, spending a lot of time “piecing things together” from all sorts of sources. While his focus is still often on military things, he also takes time doing a full genealogy of a random noble or the production line of a particular model of car. While this still annoys quite a few people, this type of obsession is what drew him closer to Cassandra Allard-Liao. The two of them spent off duty days going through the history of the Sun family in ancient China. He married Cassandra Allard-Liao after the end of the combat operation in the Capellan March after the Fifth Succession War, and Cassandra is expecting her first child.
George Hasek II’s BattleMech
George Hasek II originally piloted an Axman during the early phases of the Fifth Succession War, but he received one of the first Templar OmniMech from Kallow Weapon Industries as they became available in 3062.
