Beta Galaxy, or the Steel Fang Galaxy, is a Clan Steel Viper command which was rebuilt after the exile of the Clan. The unit was crippled already when they were ejected from the Inner Sphere and never fully recovered. During the Wars of Reaving, Steel Fang Galaxy was destroyed on Circe fighting against Clan Cloud Cobra, with the few survivors escaping off-world and joining the Wolverine Union.

The Steel Fang was not a priority for restoration for the Vipers. By 3120, enough resources and soldiers were ready to start reforming the unit as a new front-line galaxy. Equipment procurement focused on new bioroid units, both for BattleMech and Battle Armor forces. Unlike many Steel Viper galaxies, the Steel Fangs still keep a significant armor detachment, manned by “locally sourced” vatborn that undergo a quick training regimen. This bolster their force significantly compared to some of the other galaxies but necessitates a more complex logistics chain.

Steel Fang Galaxy was given the orders to strike against the Marian Hegemony in 3155, following the successful establishment of outposts in nearby worlds by Khan Hartford Zalman. Honored to do so, Galaxy Commander Rain Eun-Chui mobilized their entire force and began operations against the I Legio.

Tactics

The Steel Fang generally uses an “Anvil and Hammer” tactic in combat, with a group of heavier, heavily armored force holding a position while a fast cavalry unit flanks the enemy and pushes them in. This strategy takes advantage of their armored elements, with a group of standard tanks supporting the main Anvil force, while hovertanks and VTOLs support the Hammer force.
