Legion of Vega Army Composition
Basic rules

The Legion of Vega is a primary combat unit, but unlike the Sword of Light and such, they are not well regarded in the Combine. As such, they generally do not have the best gear available to the DCMS and make do with what they have or can salvage. They are generally viewed as “free-floating regiments”, with no specific area of operation and serve at the discretion of the local warlord. This flexibility is what allows the Legion of Vega to be filled with malcontents while also having one of the better rates of success in the Combine.
The Legion of Vega has access to 3 Detachment types: Redeemer Detachment for the pilots trying to regain their honor, Yakuza Detachment for the criminal underworld elements happy to serve the combine and Unforgiven Detachment for former mercenaries, soldiers of fortune and actual unredeemable scum of the Combine.
Redeemer detachment are the best equipped of the lot. They focus on larger units, with Medium and Heavy ‘mechs being considered Core units. Light ‘mechs and Assault ‘mechs are both considered Special units. Any unit model built past 3100 always counts as 1 rarity rarer for a Redeemer detachment.
Yakuza detachments draw their resources both from the DCMS and from their illegal contacts. They focus on faster units, with Light and Cavalry Mediums (6/9 or faster, or with Jump Jets) being Core units. Fast Heavy (5/8 or faster or with Jump Jets) are also considered Core units, while regular Heavies and slower Mediums are considered as Special units. Any Assault ‘mech is considered a Rare unit. Units built past the Civil War era count as 1 rarity rarer for Yakuza detachments.
Unforgiven detachments have the most limited resources of the group, but improvise to make things work. Light ‘Mechs and Medium ‘Mechs are considered Core units for an Unforgiven detachment. Heavy ‘Mechs are considered Special units, while Assault ‘Mechs are considered Rare units. Any ‘mechs produced after the Clan Invasion era count as 1 rarity rarer for an Unforgiven detachment.
Veterans in the Legion of Vega often have the Iron Will, Slugge, Melee Master or Street Fighter special pilot ability. Elite pilots in the Legion of Vega often have the First Fire, Melee Specialist or Terrain Master special pilot ability.
Swarm Unit
The Legion of Vega generally does not use the “swarm tactics” some other DCMS units use, but they are not above doing it when necessary. A swarm unit replaces a Lance in any company detachment and must be composed of Light ‘mechs worth 3 million C-bills or less. If a light ‘mech would be “less than Core”, it can also be included in a Swarm unit. Swarm units do not have any Support units, and the pilots must be Green or Regular at best. A Swarm Unit has 8 to 12 BattleMechs in it instead of a standard Lance.
Order Lance
Order Lances are special formations used by the DCMS where similar ‘mechs are kept together. The Legion of Vega is not known for using these often, but they do come up at times. An Order Lance must be composed of the same ‘mech 4 times, and thanks to simplifying logistic, makes all those ‘mechs 1 rarity more common than usual. Pilots in an Order Lance improve their Piloting skill by 1 while in their chosen ‘Mech thanks to familiarity with the design. This counts as a Special Pilot Ability (therefore not modifying the BV of the unit).

Vehicles
VTOL
VTOLs are standard support units in most Legion of Vega units, serving both as scout and striker units. They are considered Core support units for all Detachment.

Aerospace Fighters
Like all things in the Legion of Vega, their ASF division is composed of dishonored or “not on the up and up” pilots. Their equipment reflects this, and the Legion of Vega fighter support is not always up to par with other divisions. An ASF unit is considered a Special support unit for any Legion of Vega detachment.
