Kali Yama Weapons Industries

Kali Yama is a major manufacturer in the historical Free Worlds League, better known for the Orion and Hunchback BattleMechs. Kali Yama was seen as the backbone of the FWLM for most of the Succession Wars, their Kalidasa facility producing machines which the League could use to beat back their hungry neighbors… or quell civil unrest. The LCCC invested quite a bit in Kali Yama after the Clan Invasion, but to no avail as the company headquarter sided with the Word of Blake during the Jihad.

This break caused the company to split in two, with their HQ backing the “rightful” Thomas Marik and the satellite office on Kendall striving to survive on their own. Deals with the Marian Hegemony kept Kendall afloat, while the main facility became embroiled in decades of political upheavals.

Recent History

While Kali Yama has been trying to reconcile the two portions of its company though most of the post-Jihad era, it has been difficult. The Kalidasa headquarters has been put under a variety of government since the fall of the Free Worlds League, while Kendall has been relatively stable. The company leadership had to go through multiple votes on moving their headquarters to Kendall, which finally occurred as Clan Wolf took the world.

The drop in production at the Kalidasa facility has been a major blow to the company, even though the Kendall factories output has steadily increased. Losing the world to Clan Wolf hurt the business who had a hard time negotiating with the Wolf’s Merchant Factor, who did not want to accept any concession for international trade. Things only got better after Kali Yama agreed to begin refitting old Orions in Orion IICs for the Wolves.

Kalidasa

The Kalidasa was Kali Yama’s primary facility, but it has fallen on hard times since leaving the Republic of the Sphere, going from one hand to another over the years. Kali Yama is unable to meet deadlines and production quotas at this facility, hoping that the Wolves or the Free Worlds League agree to let them produce their bread and butter equipment.

Kendall

The Kendall factory has become the de facto center of Kali Yama production, leading to a rapid modernization and expansion of its facilities since the late 3090s. Part of these negotiations included providing part of their production to the Marian Hegemony in exchange for protection while the world remained independent. After rejoining the Free Worlds League, they kept many of their previous agreements on the down low, but kept providing significant amount of materiel to the Hegemony.

Effective Technology Level

Both Kali Yama facilities are well equipped with some of the most advanced equipment in the Inner Sphere. Both have a full orbital endo-steel mill, ferro-fibrous foundry and can refine the necessary crystals and materials to build double heat sinks, light and XL engines. The Kalidasa facilities are more advanced and feature more automated tools and machines, but Kendall is catching up quickly.

Kali Yama has not invested resources or time in developing or cloning Clan-technology and this is hurting them now. Clan Wolf is not ready to sell them equipment to advance their production capabilities, but has agreed to have the company build them some equipment to replenish their touman.

On their own, Kali Yama cannot manufacture any Clan-graded gear.
