Johnston Industries tried to get into the military hardware game since the fall of the Star League, but it was the recovery of the Helm’s Memory Core which put them on the map. Their headquarters and primary facility on Addicks was always on the frontlines and could never be fully upgraded, but once they opened production on New Syrtis, things exploded. They were at the peak of technology due to their close friendship with NAIS and their own copy of the Memory Core. They also keep a good working relationship with Banzai Enterprises.
Recent History
Johnston’s luck has been down since the Benet III incident, where the entire planet had to be evacuated. While they could blame faulty intelligence and geological data, the fiasco cost them a pretty penny and raised their insurance premiums. This was compounded with the loss of their headquarters to the Draconis Combine and then New Syrtis in 3145 to the Capellans. Johnston had to sit tight and measure their investment and debt repayments until something went their way again.
Thankfully for them, the Federated Suns reclaimed New Syrtis in late 3147 and their factories had not been damaged in the altercation. Even better, their warehouses had been secure from Capellan depredation and ‘mechs they had built for the Federated government were able to assist in retaking the world.
On Benet III, Johnston is trying to reclaim the planetary atmosphere and bring back human life to the world. The investment into terraforming equipment and atmospheric purifiers from Clan Sea Fox were quite expensive and required them to give planetary concessions to the merchant Clan. The planet is slowly “coming back to life”, a feat which was unheard of during the Succession Wars.
Manufacturing
Addicks
Johnston’s headquarters on Addicks were captured by the Draconis Combine in 3145 and the factories used to feed the DCMS war machine. They were not damaged by the fighting.
BattleMech
Aerospace Fighter
Benet III
Resettlement of the planet is underway after atmospheric purification devices were bought (at massive markup) from Clan Sea Fox. Facilities are working at 33% efficiency.
BattleMech
Vehicle
New Syrtis
The New Syrtis facilities of Johnston are their largest and most profitable. The planet features a full endo-steel orbital mill, along with advanced armor foundries.

Effective Technology Level
Johnston has always been at the cutting edge of technology thanks to NAIS and a combination of the crown and local lord’s investments. They were amongst the first companies in the Inner Sphere to operate an endo-steel orbital mill along with ferro-fibrous foundries. They also quickly adapted their production system to build and maintain XL engines and Double Heat Sinks. Even during the Capellan occupation of New Syrtis, the board of director kept steady investments in R&D, part of which came from their friendship with Clan Sea Fox and Flanagan’s Repair and Refits.
