Sarna / Tikonov March Militia Army Composition

The Sarna March Militia (later the Tikonov March Militia) was originally a single RCT but quickly came to include all units in the March under command of Field Marshall Stephen Davion. The regional forces were reorganized quickly into more mobile divisions to respond to Capellan and Leaguer aggression in the region and solidify the hold of the AFFC had on the remaining worlds. While early in the conflict reinforcements were limited, the Tikonov March Militia was quickly provided ‘mechs comparable to the ones that were to be deployed on the Clan front. This allowed for the AFFC to test new equipment in the field against “par enemies” rather than the Clans, giving better overall combat data. Massive investments in Earthwerks Tikonov allowed for quick resupply to the regional front, along with large orders to the Wolf’s Dragoons various facilities on Outreach.
Veteran pilots in the Tikonov March Militia can add the following Quirks to their ‘Mech: Rugged OR have the following SPA: Multi-Tasker or Street Fighter. Elite Tikonov March Militia pilots can add the Easy to Pilot Quirk to their ‘Mech or the Sharpshooter or Stand-Aside SPA.
Stephen Davion organized his troops in 3 types of detachment:
Arrow units are setup as rapid intervention units meant to be deployed in small units. They are often used in police action to “excise” the problem or during military operations to take out key elements. Targeted assassination missions against enemy commanders are often given to Arrow detachments, as an example. To allow for such operation, Core units in an Arrow detachment must go 5/8 or faster and be armed with at least one long range weapon (Range 18+). Special choices go to all units that are slower but still armed with long range weapons (same as above). Rare choices include all fast units with no long-range weapons.
Glaive units are the standard combat units of the STMM, meant to cut through enemy lines. These detachments are generally formed along the lines of older, Succession War era formations, with a focus on lighter battlemechs. Core choices in this detachment are ‘Mechs between 30 and 60 tons. Special choices are ‘Mechs between 20 and 25 tons and 65 to 75 tons. Assault ‘Mechs (80 tons or heavier) are considered Rare choices.
Shield units are meant to reinforce planetary garrisons and provide a strong defensive backbone. These units are heavier than what one would usually see during the Succession Wars and were the focus of a lot of investment by Stephen Davion to ensure the preservation of the Tikonov March. Core choices for this detachment are ‘mechs between 50 tons and 85 tons. Any heavier units is considered a Special choice, while lighter units are considered Rare choices.

Conventional infantry
The bulk of the Sarna and Tikonov March Militia infantry is composed of standard rifle infantry, armed with the Federated Long Rifle and its evolution, the M42B Rifle System. Planetary militias were often deputized by Marshal Stephen Davion into the STMM general force organization, allowing for a glut of standard infantry platoons to be available for police action and unrest control. 2 standard foot infantry platoons count as a single Core support asset choice, but the second unit cannot be higher than Regular quality.
Motorized infantry and field guns count as Special support assets.
Jump infantry counts as a Rare support asset.
Battle Armor
Battle Armors were being introduced in front-line regiments of the AFFC by the time the Fifth Succession War began, but the Sarna March Militia was not seen as a unit which required them urgently. Until 3063, Battle Armors are always considered Rare support asset for the STMM. After this, Shield detachments consider Battle Armors to be a Special support asset while other detachment types still consider them Rare support assets. As an exception to this, any unit equipped with OmniMech can take Battle Armors as a Core support asset for each OmniMech in the unit.

Aerospace Fighter
Aerospace support was placed on a separate organization chart by Stephen Davion to maximize deployment and support for the transport assets for his troops. He understood quickly that the WarShips he was provided needed to be protected at all costs, with orders for Leopard CV , Okinawa and Miraborg-class dropships being requested from the Corp of Quartermasters. Aerospace Fighters count as Special support asset, but are not considered as part of the org charts.
VTOL and Conventional fighters
With the reorganization of the Aerospace assets, Marshal Davion had to supplement his ground forces with additional air assets when possible. Planetary garrisons and militias were provided with many VTOL and conventional fighters. Again, these forces were considered outside of the original organizational chart of the STMM to allow more flexibility in moving these assets when required. VTOLs and Conventional fighters are considered Special support assets for the Sarna Tikonov March Militia.
