The Dioscuri is formerly large mercenary outfit that has had issues since the end of the Jihad. Currently a fully combined arms force, they have been rebuilding their BattleMech force by contracting themselves to various weapons manufacturers on the Lyran / Free Worlds League border.
Recent History
The Dioscuri rebuilt much of their forces during the Republican Era, offering good prices to various warriors who wanted to get rid of their assets. They served the Lyran Commonwealth actively during most of that time, generally defending the border with the Jade Falcon Occupation Zone (now Falcon’s Aerie). To keep their forces well-equipped, the Dioscuri also took contracts from industrial outlets, taking payment in equipment rather than cash. With the devaluation of the c-bill and the lack of confidence in the Republican Dinar, this was a far better choice than expected.
By the early 3150s, the Dioscuri had mainly been operating on the border between the Free Worlds League, Lyran Commonwealth and Wolf Empire. Most of their operations were defensive in nature, often related to Defiance Industries and their subsidiaries. During the Lyran operations against the Wolf Empire, the Dioscuri served as military police and pacification units on a few worlds. They were generally well regarded by the locals, who were accommodating to the change of regime.
Officers
- Colonel Owen Watson (1st Dioscuri Regiment)
- Lieutenant-Colonel Jasmyn Nels (2nd Dioscuri Regiment)
Tactics
The Dioscuri various units are generally “light harassers”, with their larger units being Fast Heavies and Cavalry Mediums. The general 275 Mafia (Shadow Hawk, Griffin, Wolverine) are some of the most popular ‘Mechs in their formations. One unit generally performs scouting and harassment strikes until they bring the enemy formation where required, where the heavier elements of the second unit strikes them on their flank.
Composition
- 1st Dioscuri Regiment (Combined-Arms regiment, Veteran / Reliable)
- 2nd Dioscuri Regiment (Combined-Arms regiment, Regular / Questionable)
The Dioscuri have limited dropship assets, generally relying on their employer to move them from one location to another.
The Dioscuri’s Paint Scheme
The Dioscuri paint their machines in a chaotic swirl of dark blue and black, with silver-white lightning streaks. (as per CamoSpecs)
