Jiyi Chistu is a smart man, and through most of his career, it was his planning and prudence which kept him from losing it all. When contact with Malvina Hazen’s main force on Terra was lost, Jiyi tried to get the remnants of Clan Jade Falcon, mainly composed of solahma forces and young recruits, organized. Naming himself Khan, he tried to approach Marena to solidify their position in the Inner Sphere, but the High Syndic rebuffed him.
Trial of Refusal
When Stephanie Chistu reached Sudeten, Jiyi Chistu did not believe that she was rightfully the Khan of the Jade Falcons. He used his agents throughout the Inner Sphere to get more information about the Falcons on Terra, and learned of the death of Malvina Hazen, along with the ascension of Stephanie Chistu. He knew, however, that a number of the Falcons would never accept to simply be “Wolves Bodyguards”, so he began to plan for a way to oppose Stephanie’s position as Khan to keep the Clan strong.
After the destruction of the Alyina Mercantile League and Stephanie’s second time at Sudeten, Jiyi Chistu challenged the other Khan to a Trial of Refusal, hoping his sheer numbers on Sudeten would be enough to defeat a weakened Stephanie Chistu, not knowing that Stephanie’s forces were still fresh as they had not fought on Alyina and had gathered more troops from Marena’s defectors.
Jiyi’s plan for the Trial was good but had not considered that Stephanie’s force was composed of veterans of the Battle of Terra, now very skilled at locating and countering ambushes, which Jiyi relied on heavily. The two Khans fought reluctantly, neither wanting to lose more troops than required, at times with warriors using non-lethal and downpowered lasers to prevent needless deaths.
Back to Star Captain
Jiyi Chistu expected to be executed like Marena was when he surrendered to his bloodkin Stephanie Chistu, but the now official and only Khan of the Jade Falcons recognized his actions as having been done “for the good of the Jade Falcons”, but for his insubordination, he was lowered to the rank of Star Captain and assigned to the Stephanie’s personal force, as a mean for her to keep an eye on him. The rest of the Falcon remnants accepted the surrender of their leader and reintegrated Clan Jade Falcon proper before going to fight in the Wolf Empire.
Jiyi Chistu on the Vesper Front
The Vesper Marches split from the Falcon Occupation Zone after Vedet Brewer went into hiding in that territory. In response, Khan Stephanie Chistu mobilized Jiyi Chistu to move against him in a way for him to reclaim his honor. With a single cluster of 2nd line ‘mechs (except for his own Gyrfalcon), Jiyi harassed and threatened Brewer’s 1st Hesperus Guards, but it was actually the LCAF’s Roderick Steiner which dislodged the disloyal noble from the region. Jiyi Chistu was no match for 2 regiments of regular LCAF forces, but Roderick Steiner agreed that the worlds where Jiyi had fought would be returned to the Falcon, with the remaining worlds returning to Lyran control.
Jiyi felt this would be another mark against his bloodname, but Stephanie Chistu welcomed him back with open arms, placing him back under her command in her Galaxy before moving to fight House Liao troops.
