William Arnold

General William Arnold, born Guillaume, is the commanding officer of the Free Worlds Guard. As the brigade reformed itself in 3139, the then Colonel Arnold sword an oath of loyalty to Jessica Marik. He was raised to general on the spot. His orders were to rebuild and rearm as many regiments of the Free Worlds Guard as possible. By 3151, 6 regimental groups of the Guards served under the unified Free Worlds League banner. A steadfast man, General Arnold is intransigent regarding politics, but fair with his troops. His son, Gabriel, is currently serving in the Second Free World Guards, with no preferential treatment. His daughter Sabrina serves as “lady-in-waiting” to Nikol Marik, a mixture of bodyguard and personal secretary.

Defensive positions

The First and Second Free Worlds Guards mobilized against the Wolf Empire. The 4 other regiments were at various levels of readiness, not ready to assist. General Arnold kept drilling and rearming his men. He kept them in defensive positions in case of retaliatory attacks from the Wolves. While it stopped a few opportune raids, the Guards fought mostly against renegade mercenaries associated with the Wolf’s Dragoons.

After the end of the military operations against the Wolves, Arnold reinforced his support of Nikol Marik, the current Captain-General. Even with the political turmoil in the Free Worlds League, he wants the Guards to be viewed as a stone on which the rest of the FWLM can anchor. His command company moves from one Guard regiment to another to keep morale up. He has taken special notice of Major Trenton Marik after his successful work on Stewart.
