Viggo McFadden had risen up in the Blood Spirit touman as Operation REVIVAL’s fallout was causing trouble within the Clans. An intellectual, Viggo McFadden created a new religion for his Clan, which he was intent on having grow over the years through the use of missionaries ilChi.
Early career and migration
With the limited military power of the Blood Spirits, Viggo Blood Spirit could not really go any higher than Star Colonel, but he was one of the first to “jump ship” when the Wolverines came by and invited (sometimes more harshly) the Blood Spirits to relocate. This decision did allow him to claim a McFadden bloodname as the Clan was falling apart on Haven and York. His position in the military allowed him to secure the role of “provisional Khan” as the Clan was forcefully relocated, with the actual Khan of the Blood Spirit dying “on their feet” against the Star Adders.
Religious Awakening
The failures of Clan Blood Spirit rested heavily with Viggo McFadden, who spent months in seclusion, meditation and reading. Outside of his saKhan bringing him reports, nobody else met with McFadden during his religious ordeal, which he explained was like the Clan’s original behavior in the Homeworlds. Coming out of his hermitage, he explained his views to the rest of the Blood Spirit leadership and spread out the first version of the Spirit Red Bible.
This new religion viewed the failures of the Blood Spirit, and the Clans in general, as a failure in humanitarian action and human empathy. A portion of the religion also viewed “humans with superior morals” as something which should be imitated, and pointed out that the founders of the various Bloodhouses of Clan Blood Spirit had such superior morals, same with Sarah McEvedy and most of Clan Wolverine. A form of demonization of Nicholas Kerensky and his betrayal of the ideals of his father also lingered in the back of the religious movement.
Political work
In the following years, Viggo McFadden mainly worked in politics and helped with the further integration of the Exiled Clans within the Union. His ilChi missionaries served as both ambassadors and negotiators for the various parties, which were happy to let them build the groundwork. The Amaris family tried to influence the religious belief of the Blood Spirits but were denied unless “they showed strong morals and strength of character” going forward.
While the Blood Spirit military rebuilt itself, it was never a priority for Viggo McFadden. The import and creation of vatgrowns also weighed heavily on the High Magister, who rationalized it as a nation requiring a work force to allow the good deeds to trickle out.
Retirement
Viggo McFadden retired in 3123, mostly to concentrate on his writing. He participated in the re-editing of the Spirit Red Bible, along with writing supporting documents for it and a series of letters to other Khans and leaders within the Union, all of which were later published. He also spent some time trying to figure out “The Empathy Gene” within his Clan’s bloodhouses.
