Valerian Kazumiya

Valerian Kazumiya is a political genius. Not because he wins elections, has grand speaking skills or brilliant ideas. No, Valerian is a genius because he is the man to please and the very definition of the mechanical gears of any bureaucratic system. He is a particularly haughty individual, with a sneering demeanor and delusions of grandeur about his family. Hand picked by Carolyne Amaris as her point of contact with other political offices within the Union, Valerian has made a fortune in this position.

An Average Noble

Valerian Kazumiya was an average noble from an average family. Destined to not much outside of taking over the family business making quality cutlery, Kazumiya went to business school to get an MBA, with a minor in political science. This is where he first met with Carolyne Amaris, who was getting a degree in Ancient History. The two were fast friends, even though their relationship never moved past this. After graduating, Kazumiya was made personal assistant to Carolyne Amaris, before moving up to private secretary. Collecting other titles and other positions from there, Valerian Kazumiya became one of the most well paid bureaucrat in the Rim Worlds Republic.

Never degraded

Valerian Kazumiya has no morals when dealing with others in the name of the Amaris family. Gifts, special dispensations and other things that are definitely not bribes make their way to him and it filters who gets to talk to the Imperial family. This is all well and good with the Empress in Exile and the secret police, who know precisely just how corrupt Valerian Kazumiya is. Kazumiya’s own secretary, Yumiko Hojo, is learning from the very best and is expected to take over his position once he retires or the Empress does and one of her sons take office.
