Phil Burke has served as aide to Heidar Nelson and the Nelson’s Longbows since the retirement of the former commander. Burke’s position as captain of the 2nd company of the Longbows affords him a lot of flexibility, which he takes advantage of in his deployment choices. Burke favors a more “offensive” approach and is generally at the front of any combat operations.
Combat experience
Originally trained at Humphrey Training Academy, he was thrown out of the program. His bad attitude was tampered over time as he trained at minor academies. After graduating, he was headhunted by the Nelson’s Longbow. They were looking for another pilot with above average skills with LRMs. He was originally assigned a Hellspawn, but quickly was given one of the LongBows.
The then Lieutenant Burke led a lance of the Longbows into battle against pirates hiding on a remote, unnamed, world in 3122. With minimal supplies and a small unit, Burke managed to dispatch of the bandit prince “Rackham the Purple” and claiming his DropShip as a prize. Phil Burke kept a good relationship with all local JumpShip captains to make sure his unit can mobilize to hot zones quickly. During the Battle of Crecy City, Burke was seen hunting down enemy units that were outside the city limit to prevent further reinforcements.
Against the Steel Vipers
Burke’s aggressivity was an issue when faced with Hartford Zalman’s Steel Vipers. Pirates usually were easily overwhelmed by a force with superior logistics and technology. However, the Clan forces outgunned and were far more numerous than what Burke was used to deal with.
