Nico Schofield leads the Schofield’s Garrisoneers from a small land hold on Thadora’s Land. Not an incredibly rich planet, the Garisoneers are generally paid in food, equipment and whatever salvage they could get from the frequent pirate raids on the planet. Captain Schofield never had to display any major leadership capabilities, as his fully company of advanced BattleMechs outmatches any pirate that raid Thadora’s Land.

Fighting the Steel Vipers

Luckily for Nico Schofield, the Steel Viper’s Gamma Galaxy were more willing to “play by the rules” than their Khan was in his attack of New St. Andrews. His company and the local planetary militia were no match for a full Galaxy of Clan Steel Viper, but they were given a chance to at least fight “on equal footing” during the short campaign.

Not a Bondsman?

Clan Steel Viper no longer took “bondsmen” during their operation against the Marian Hegemony. After his defeat, Nico Schofield fully expected to be either taken as bondsman or kept as a captive. He was, however, offered a position in the planetary garrison of Thadora’s Land, under the supervision of a solahma officer of Clan Steel Viper.

This unusual situation led to confusion amongst the ranks of the defenders of both New St. Andrews and Thadora’s Land. Khan Hartford Zalman was not happy to use mercenaries, but he understood that “getting on the good side” of the locals was more important. The generous offers made to the defenders of Thadora’s Land were quite appreciated, and reciprocated over time.
