Jaroslav Girka was born on Marik from an entirely normal family. His father would have originally wanted him to follow in the family coffee business. However, Jaroslav jumped on the occasion to join the planetary militia to pay for his college education. Decently trained, he became a tank commander in a Schrek PPC Carrier crew. Bold but cautious, Jaroslav Girka has learned to be a mix of Clan Warrior culture and Inner Sphere “baroudeur” culture.
Training in the Protectorate
The Spirit Cats were not able to have enough units to defend their worlds in the Clan Protectorate and used Inner Sphere auxiliaries from the start. Jaroslav Girka took advantage of this to pay for his education, getting a degree in molecular chemistry. His real talent, however, was in command and his focus shifted to becoming an officer in the planetary militia. In an exercise created to mimic a Clan Blooding, Girka led his Schrek to take down 4 enemies. This fast tracked him to a Captain billet from the Clan leadership.
Popular with his men and clever in his tactics, Girka took command of the entire Marik planetary militia. He achieved the rank of Colonel in 3148, defeating 2 other captains in a Trial. His militia often trained with Star Colonel Rikkard (internal) as aggressors to train his Spirit Cat warriors. This was mostly due to their level of skill which was seen as equivalent to most regular FWLM units.
Calling of the 77th
With the reformation of Clan Nova Cat, new “regular” units were required by the FWLM and the Protectorate military. While not directly under Clan Nova Cat’s touman, Girka proposed that his planetary militia be fully deputized to Julietta Marik (internal). She accepted and petitioned the Parliament to allow the creation of the 77th Marik Regulars. While “poorly equipped” compared to many front-line Clusters, the 77th was roughly the equivalent of a solahma unit for a Clan.
The unit was almost immediately needed to protect the Protectorate against retaliatory strikes from fellow FWLM Silver Hawk Irregulars, which were angered by their defeat against the Nova Cat forces. Colonel Girka successfully defended the Protectorate, and his careful planning led the other newly raised regiments of the Protectorate non-Clan population to mimic his actions. Considering his action and leadership, Khan Rwabdoggo tentatively pushes for Colonel Girka to be given the rank of “General” in what he wants to call “Marik Galaxy”.
