Herman Coyote is a late addition to The Society, having been whisked away from Clan Coyote in the early 32nd century. He is a specialist in LASER technology, especially for communication and precision delivery of data. His research was regarded as “non-essential” by Clan Coyote, who redirected him to working on improving laser weapon technology before a “lab accident” allowed him to abscond to Union space.

Living in the Society

As part of the Society, Herman Nobel (the Labname he adopted) rose in the ranks quickly due to his work ethics and dedication to his task. His intra-system communication laser systems became a standard throughout the Union, using a form of spacefolding to allow for short-range, FTL real-time communications within the same system. His work on expanding this to a full HPG network is delayed by the head of HPG research trying to improve the overall range of communications rather than the speed of it.

The biggest problem Herman Nobel has, however, is having been raised within Clan Coyote and still having basic understanding of military tactics and military logistics. This unfortunately put him on the radar of the Society Military Service, which was looking for a new Prime General in 3136. Having to take “refresher courses” by joining The Burrocks on raids and The Wolverines on wargames was demeaning enough for him, but he accepted his new role.

A Reluctant Commander

Herman Nobel began a reconstruction of the Society Military Service by increasing the education and training of the officers within the force. The lack of skilled officers and commanders was a huge issue in the wargames he did against Foxtrot Whitfeld, especially in the logistics sector of his force. With the combat force being focused on bioroids and commanders, these new officers were taken mainly from those who did not have the mental capacity to remote control multiple ‘Mechs.

With almost 20 years of work, Herman Nobel has managed to turn the Society Military Service into a functional military force with a strong backend support system. Unfortunately, most of the actual soldiers are untested and unprepared for the horrors of war, but new combat drugs developed by the Society might assist them with that.
