Helmar Valasek The Third

Helmar Valasek the Third, born James Ordek, is a descendant of pirate king Helmar Valasek. While well-trained and with exemplary discipline, Helmar Valasek still takes after his grandfather with a massive girth and bald head. This hides, however, a mass of muscles and sinew which makes him rival Elemental warriors. Trained in a special sibko, General Valasek has a good understanding of Clan culture and adapts it to his every day life.

Youth and rebellion

A son of Valasek’s bastard Gurt Ordek, James was raised in poverty in the Rasalhague Dominion. He integrated a training sibko in opposition to his parent’s desire and was inadvertently included in a Project Inheritance group. Surviving the gruelling process, James Ghost Bear still defected after his Blooding, joining a band of roving mercenaries. Capitalizing on his combat expertise and leadership, James changed his name to his ancestor’s more famous one and took command of the group. Fleeing the Dominion, they went in the counter-spinward region of the Lyran Commonwealth to ply their trade.

Meeting a future king

Valasek’s mercenaries were contracted to defend an outpost on Elume. While in transit, their dropship was boarded by a Rim Territories ship commanded by Malax Morrison. Rather than fight the superior force, Valasek surrendered. What came next was the Rim Territories pirate hiring the mercenaries as the two men developed a fast friendship. Over the following year and a half, the two schemed to take down the current ruler of the Rim Territories, Jaysen Black.

What happened next surprised everyone: the King simply stepped down and gave the control of the Rim Territories to Malax Morrison. To have a more “orderly” nation, Morrison named Helmar “General of the Armies”. Valasek immediately started organizing the various warlords and captain forces into actual regiments, battalions and orderly commands. While using Inner Sphere formations, a lot of the other trappings were copied off Clan design. This endeared Valasek to the Dark Caste members still present in the Rim Territories

Current leadership

The Rim Territories armies have not been tested heavily since Valasek took control of them. While they still employ raiding for supplies and generally piracy, some commands have become standard military forces garrisoning worlds. The biggest threats to the Territories is the LCAF, which is generally more busy fighting with Clan Jade Falcon. Helmar has married Malax Morrison’s sister Haldia, who is expecting their 3^rd child in 3155.
