Giancarlo Falcone

“The Black Falcon”, Giancarlo Falcone, raised a colonial marshall “reinforced battalion” right before the War of the Reaches. A former mercenary commander, he was sent to the Fronc Reach by the Magistracy of Canopus as a loaned asset. A rather disreputable man, he found that working for the Fronc Colonial Military was a good gig and settled down.

Before the War

Giancarlo Falcone started his mercenary career fighting in unsanctioned ‘Mech fights on Canopus. Raising enough cash to move away, by 3132 he was working throughout the Duchy of Andurien as “private security” and guns for hire for criminal elements of the Free Worlds League, Capellan Confederation and Duchy itself. It was through those criminal contacts that he grew his unit from a single lance to a full battalion, using stolen and “mislabelled” goods to strengthen it.

During Operation REBOUND, his WildWurgers fought for the Andurien Defense Force, who kept a closed eye on all their business dealings. With some financing from Ari Humphreys (internal), Falcone managed to recruit enough personnel to show up as more or less a half regiment of combined arms units. This put him on the map for Ilsa Centrella (internal) to hire him on a more permanent basis as a “deniable asset”.

War of the Reaches

The WildWurgers and Giancarlo Falcone were sent to Spencer on a loan from the Magistracy Armed Forces while the trade war between the two Reaches started heating up.  Understanding that he was basically sent there to “stir trouble”, Falcone did start pushing the buttons of the Trade Alliance forces on various worlds to get the whole thing to turn into a shooting war.

He wasn’t the one to start the war however, as the impounding of a Sea Fox dropship led to a major fight outside his sphere of control. Following orders from the Fronc Marshalls, he mobilized his units to defend a few key installations, where he began his own personal war against the Flanagan’s Highwaymen.

This turned into an odd case of friendly rivalry, as both “semi-mercenary” outfits never “kept prisoners” or salvage, preferring to return things to their rightful owner in case something bad was to happen. Falcone earned the respect of the Flanagan family, while his criminal enterprises were dismantled over time by the Flanagan’s detective arm. He finally had to fight with Anna Siroix, “Miss Marple”, in the closing days of the War, where he had to surrender.

Time for an Alliance

Giancarlo Falcone’s multiple talents made him an important individual for the Fronc Marshalls as they signed the treaty which ended the War of the Reaches. Providing him a permanent contract and a landhold, he was given the official rank of Colonel in the Rimward Alliance military. The Flanagans apparently vouched for him as well, if he kept his more nefarious affairs down.

With a colonel commission and money to build an actual unit, Falcone kept a combined arms mentality for his unit, allocating his resources to other “local” companies to rebuild. He also commissioned the creation of 2 new designs for his unit and the Fronc Marshalls.

Giancarlo’s WildWurgers assisted the Taurian Defense Force in their reclaiming of traditionally Taurian worlds from the Capellan Confederation during the time of the Capellan – Star League War.
