The Prof, Etienne Siroix, Flanagan's Highwayman, Aurigan Trade Alliance, Rimward Alliance

Etienne Siroix is the head engineer at Flanagan’s Repair and Refits. He also serves as a commander in one of the Home Guard units on Artru. He maintains an “online persona” throughout the Inner Sphere and the Periphery by doing surface level BattleMech reviews. Those are sent through Black Box systems and functional HPG systems. He spends his days taking care of his kids, working in the Flanagan’s repair yard on Artru and drinking unhealthy amounts of coffee. His open nature allowed him to make friends with many in all spheres of existence in the Inner Sphere.

Early Life

Etienne Siroix was born to the Siroix MechWarrior family in the Federated Suns, a low-ranking noble house which has been serving the crown since the early founding of the Federated Suns. His father served in the Warren Capellan March Militia, making him close to the periphery from the start. Like his brother Arthur Siroix, Etienne trained on a variety of ‘mechs, with a specialization in long range missile.

While doing his MechWarrior training, Etienne Siroix was also doing a distance education course through NAIS in BattleMech engineering. He often assisted with the maintenance of his BattleMech, against the best recommendation of the head technician. His more “disorganized” lifestyle coming from this led him to have conflicts with his father, which “let him go” to join a minor mercenary outfit.

Joining the Flanagan’s

This minor outfit was serving in the Rim Ward periphery, taking a variety of high-risk but rather low rewards missions. After a rather catastrophic mission, the team went to Artru for repairs. The unit commander tried to skip on payments and steal equipment from Flanagan’s Repair and Refits, which Etienne opposed, joining the Home Guard forces to fight off his former unit. After this, he was given a lieutenant commission in the Highwaymen.

Humanitarian Aid

Lieutenant Siroix served primarily in the humanitarian aid team of the Highwaymen. During a mission deep in the core ward region of space, he rescued a group of dezgra Clan Hell’s Horses warriors off a world which was collapsing. His immediate batchall of the commander of the unit is probably what saved most of the local scientists and workers, which won him a special induction in the Flanagan’s Traveler Clan. This is also where he met his future wife, Amelia Hell’s Horses, a disgraced MechWarrior hoping for death.

Engineer Job

On the return trip from that mission, Siroix officially got his engineering degree completed, along with racking up massive amounts of work in the dropship on every possible ‘mech. After landing on Artru, he met with Kieran Flanagan and requested to be transferred to the factory, which Kieran only accepted if the now Captain Siroix continued to serve as part of the Home Guard. After a quick kerfuffle with the Flanagan’s Clan law, Etienne and Amelia were married and settled in the factory.

While Amelia Siroix would go on as an investigator and mechwarrior for the Highwaymen, often leaving the home, Etienne remained at the factory where he directed crews to complete special orders for customers. His position as a lead engineer kept growing as the older staff retired, while other willingly let the younger man advance as he was making friends with everyone “important” to the business. He spent most of his time in the mechyard, but was still drilling and commanding a unit of Home Guard forces, while also raising his 3 children, born of Iron-Wombs due to Amelia being infertile.

Fighting the Word of Blake and the Trip to Terra

When the Word of Blake struck against Artru, Etienne Siroix led his Home Guards against what should have been a superior opponent. Luckily for him, part of Andrew Yung’s Sea Foxes and a binary of Snow Raven aerospace fighters were on the planet for resupply and trade. The now Major Siroix gathered as much evidence and equipment as possible from the invaders, not understanding most of their technology. He wrote a tech briefing for his commanding officers but was then asked directly by Star League Command to deliver it to them.

Taking his family, Etienne Siroix made the trip to Terra. There, he met with Chance Vickers at first, before briefing the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Star League Unified Watch. The trip also allowed him to buy a number of things, ranging from coffee to new Battlemechs for evaluation for the Highwaymen and such.

Etienne Siroix’s BattleMech

Etienne Siroix pilots a highly customized Archer nicknamed “The Prof”, who he will not ever call anything other than “my Archer” or “the Archer” because he hates naming BattleMechs.
