The Tamarind Regulars were formed after the collapse of the Free Worlds League. The Duchy of Tamarind-Abbey reformed various “Marik” regiments that were stationed or native to the region into a new national guard. The new regiments needed to shed their previous skins to be able to get a new, unspoiled identity. For 5 years after 3096, those units started adopting new paint schemes, insignias and internal culture. By 3101 was composed of 10 front line regiments with significant shared support units.

History

The Regulars are not an “old blood” unit like many in the current Free Worlds League Military. While they have decent credentials from what their previous units were, they have not been showing great results since reforming. This is mostly due to bad luck and overwhelming military force which they faced. During Operation HAMMERFALL, they faced the combined strength of the Lyran Commonwealth and Clan Wolf. Fontaine Marik managed to keep the Duchy together, but by the end of HAMMERFALL, three of the regiments had been destroyed.

While their hatred for the Wolves and Lyran remained high, it was the Marian Hegemony that was the biggest thorn in the Tamarind Regular side during the 3140s. The Marians tried to expand their sphere of influence in that period, and the Regulars were their main opponents. The Regulars also mobilized against Clan Wolf after the Battle of Terra, reclaiming a few worlds for the Free Worlds League.

During the War of Marian Aggression, the Regulars and their mercenary allies, Camacho’s Caballeros, pushed back against the Marians and retook the worlds they had lost. Fontaine Marik, however, left the Regulars to defend his territory and took the Marik Militia to fight with the III Legion on Bowang. This was a political decision to increase the standing of the Duchy of Tamarind-Abbey.
