The Silver Hawk Irregulars were a proud military unit of the FWLM during the Succession War era. Unfortunately, they were disbanded during the Jihad after being almost destroyed. Colonel Lucas Cameron-Witherspoon (internal) and his brother Ian reformed them in 3135. They had a clear goal of recapturing all the Silver Hawk Coalition worlds. Facing the Wolf Empire, this was seen as almost a hopeless goal. When the Wolves pulled most of their forces from the Empire for the Battle of Terra, the Colonel siezed the opportunity.

The strikes against the Coalition worlds by the Irregulars were not approved or sponsored by the Free Worlds League. They had have the support of Count Gavin Stewart (internal), however. While their initial push was very successful, the intervention of the Clan Protectorate, mostly composed of Clan Nova Cats, broke their momentum. This led them to be pushed back to their original holdings. Petitioning the Parliament to sanction the Nova Cats, the Irregulars were rebuffed by all 3 major Marik parties. None of them could afford a fight against a member state over unsanctioned military action.

After the failed invasion

The Irregulars would probe the defenses of the Clan Protectorate from that point onwards. While not “pirates” due to their affiliation to a noble house of the FWL, their actions could only be viewed as predatory. Julietta Marik (internal) wanted to have the Irregulars punished by the parliament. She did not manage to get enough votes for her motion even with the support from her sister Nikol (internal).

The tense semi-war between the Irregulars and the Protectorate is only growing, especially as new “benefactors” have begun providing the irregulars with weapons and equipment. Them being marked with a DNA strand is odd, however.

Reformed

The current Irregulars are built from three regiments, with the Falcons being the most prestigious of the three. The Gryphons were originally a single battalion of fast ‘mechs, but they were reinforced with combined arms elements featuring battle armor infantry and cavalry vehicles. The Kestrels are a new addition to the Irregulars, using resources from their new benefactors, built around light cavalry ‘mechs and vehicles and VTOL units.

Silver Hawk Irregulars tactics

The tactics of the Irregulars varies based on their member units, but fast cavalry units are generally favored by all of them, including a dedication to jump capable units.
