Raventhir’s Iron Hand

Raventhir’s Iron Hand is the most fanatical and devoted regiment in the Magistracy Armed Forces. Their primary military role is the defense of Canopus IV, along with the Magestrix herself. The regiment used to be under the command of House Raventhir, but as no survivor of that family legally exists at this time, it became a standard regiment of the Magistracy of Canopus.

Reformation

The Iron Hands was destroyed during the Jihad, with the few remaining officers being transferred to the First Canopian Cuirassiers. This was seen as a serious gut punch to the MAF, and Naomi Centrella requested to rebuild the unit as soon as the resources were available. While it was a point of national pride, a lot of the funds for this came from foreign powers, either the Capellan Confederation or, secretly, from the Rim Worlds Republic. Jeremy Raventhir was named colonel of the unit in 3079 to govern the reformation. The RWR made sure he died without an heir so the unit command could go on as a “normal military unit”, as to ensure their infiltration of the unit.

Modern Situation

The Raventhir’s Iron Hand is now composed of 4 battalions and meant to have a full combined arms doctrine. The ‘Mech battalion always keeps 2 of its companies on Canopus IV, as protectors of the Magistracy throne. The last company was meant to travel between border worlds of the Magistracy, but since the marriage between Ilsa Centrella and Ari Humphreys, they have been deploying in the Duchy of Andurien instead. The Iron Hand’s air wing serves as the planetary defense wing for Canopus IV and escorts the Magestrix when she leaves the planet.

Breaking of the peace

With the collapse of the relationship with the Duchy of Andurien, the Raventhir’s Iron Hand sent order for their troops to attack the Andurien forces. With a battalion of combined arms (‘mechs, armor and infantry), the Raventhir’s Iron Hand began guerilla and raiding operations against the Duchy of Andurien. This makes them a serious thorn in the side of the Andurien Defense Force.

Raventhir’s Iron Hand military colors

The parade colors for this unit are red with green accents, often combined with gold, silver and lavender. This is due to most members of the unit being graduates of the Canopian Institute of War.
