The Humphreys School of Warfare was officially “closed” since the middle of the 2^nd Sucession War. While many thought it was destroyed, it was actually the lack of ressources which caused the campus to close down. Throughout the later part of the Succession Wars and past the Clan invasion, the campus was used by various other training academies in the Free Worlds League to train recruits off-world, maintaining the facilities to a bare minimum. When Kanata rejoined the Duchy of Andurien, investment from the Ducal Crown allowed the Kanata School of Warfare to reopen.

Current curriculum

Graduates from the Humphrey Training Academy were the ones who recommissioned the Kanata School of Warfare. As such, the program of the KSW starts with a 6 months intensive survival, small arms and physical fitness training. After this is completed, the recruits are placed in one of the 3 programs.

BattleMech Program

The Kanata School of Warfare BattleMech program relies very little on simulators, as those have not been installed yet. A full battalion of trainer ‘mechs has been assigned to the KSW. While live fire exercises are not promoted, the head of the program is a Hell’s Horses Wrangler who had to go in exile due to some of his more extreme ideas. Recruits are drilled to Clan standards rather than the laxer standards of places like the Humphreys-Hero Training Institute.

Armor Program

The armor crew program of the Kanata School of Warfare is meant to be a short and brutal affair. While MechWarriors are carefully molded into elite cadets, the tankies are just thrown to the wolf. Massive amounts of Quikscell-built gear are used to teach cadets how to work as a team, but also how to perform field repair on equipment. The idea is for the cadets to be ready for combat within 2 years of starting the program.

Navy Program

A new program added due to the new warships being built on Xanthe III. A complex course, this one is meant to train ship crew, ship technicians and officers. The base program combines physical requirements with astrophysics and deep space survival. Exercises are done using 3 DropShips associated with the school, as no actual WarShip can be spared for training.
