Hope Industrial Works was given majors upgrades and investments since the 3130s. They remain the Brotherhood of Randis’s primary supplier of BattleMech equipment and new machines. However, they have started providing other religious institutions (especially the New Avalon Catholic Church) with military equipment. With the explosion in population of Randis, combined with the need of the faitful, they increased their production exponentially.
Recent history
After the success of Operation TRIDENT, the Brotherhood of Randis allowed Lloyd’s of New London to assess the damage on Hope’s installations. Most of it ended up being covered by their insurance policy, with the bounty of a successful pirate hunt covering the rest of the cost. They also commissioned engineers from Flanagan’s Repair and Refits, on Artru, to improve their infrastructure.
With these upgrades, Hope Industrial Works was now able to build more advanced equipment, like Ferro-fibrous, endo-composite and double heat sinks. While the CEO, Knight Felix Delgado, wanted to install a full endo-steel mill in orbit, the price was too high for him to justify it at this point. Upgrades to existing design in production was the priority, and by 3142, all production lines were building “modern” versions of the various BattleMechs.
The Dragon’s Tongue’s refugees
Refugees from the Federated Suns flooded Randis after the creation of the Dragon’s Tongue. Hope Industrial Works worked with many of them to provide equipment to the resistance on their home. Sales to private individuals became the biggest source of revenue for the company. As the Davion Reconquista and Avalon Crusade started, Hope Industrial Works also provided refit kits for standard ‘mechs for would-be crusaders.
A few analysts report that Hope Industrial Works finances terrorist organizations. The Sheep of Kentares do take advantage of HIW refit kits, which is an issue. Other crusader bands are not regarded as “global terrorist threats” yet, but many take advantage of HIW equipment and are being monitored by the New Star League Watch.
