First Free Worlds Guards

The First Free Worlds Guards is an “old blood” regiment within the Free Worlds League Military. Through thick and thin, they have served the people of the Free Worlds League. While the nation was disbanded, they served the Marik-Stewart Commonwealth, before being routed by Clan Wolf. With the reformation of the League, the Guards have taken back their position as an elite regiment.

History

Recent history

The First Guards was mobilized to fight against the Wolf Empire after the Battle of Terra. The Parliament voted to reclaim worlds lost in various provinces after the disastrous actions of the Silver Hawk Irregulars. The First Guard, along with other units, began the process in the former province of Stewart. The initial attacks were quite successful. However once various units of the Wolf touman began returning from Terra, this slowed down to a crawl.

Current events

After some losses, the First returned to their homebase on Ionus. There, they planned for strikes to reclaim New Olympia, before a ceasefire was ordered. Taking this time to rebuild and train. Receiving a shipment of Ares tripods which were earmarked for the Republic of the Sphere led to the formation of new heavy “siege breaker” units.

The First Guards are now keeping a close on the situation between the Silver Hawk Coalition and the Clan Protectorate. Tensions between the two Free Worlds province indicate that a potential civil war might be brewing. In larger political affairs, the First Free Worlds have become closer to Fontaine Marik and his more militaristic approach to the future.

Tactics

There is not tactical speciality for the regiment in general. There is a focus on small command formations, with the individual lower officers being given more control.
