Sorell Book was originally a military police office serving in the Republic of the Sphere, slowly raising through the ranks to become the “Acting Director In Charge” of the entire military investigation force for the Republic. While people laughed at his title (you know, ADIC), he took much pride into it and served the Republic faithfully until the final collapse. Sorell Book fought in the Battle of Terra, losing his family’s heirloom Thunderbolt to Jade Falcon forces in Geneva. When Max Ergen (internal) called for former Republic officers to join his First Army Group and helping Clan Wolf, Sorell Book answered the call in hopes he would regain at least part of his salary and prestige.
Battle of Yorii
While Sorell Book would have preferred a calm desk job managing field agents, he was given the provisional rank of Star Captain during the Battle of Yorii, in charge of a “reinforced binary” (basically an Inner Sphere company). His managerial experience allowed him to properly direct his unit before he got embroiled in a duel with Peter Cobb of Clan Hell’s Horses. Over the course of 2 weeks, Book and Cobbs’s units fought in and around a large, forested area, neither of them giving ground. Against expectations, Sorell Book managed to score multiple kills and keep his command mostly intact until Cobb was forced to retreat to go support Gottfried Amirault’s (internal) main push before his final duel against Alaric Ward.
Founding of Clan Thunder Boar
Sorell Book approached Max Ergen again after the Battle of Yorii to be reinstated in a position similar to what he held in the Republic of the Sphere. To his surprise, he learned of the founding of Clan Thunder Boar, and the warriors of the First Army Group were asked to vote for the position of SaKhan, which Book won as people respected his skills as a commander, but also knew he was a competent politician.
As SaKhan, Book took command of the newly raised garrison Galaxy of the Thunder Boar, mostly composed of local Yorii planetary defenders and law enforcement. Peacekeeping was Sorell Book’s primary task at that point, same with allowing the integration of the local government elements into the newborn Clan.
BattleMech
Sorell Book piloted a heirloom Thunderbolt during the Battle of Terra, which he lost in combat. During the Battle of Yorii, he piloted a Dominator.
