Ceres Metals Industries has been the largest military provider to the Capellan Confederation. It has been so since they moved their headquarters to Capella in 2415. Throughout the years, they went from good times to terrible times as the Capellan Confederation almost failed during the Fourth Succession War. Since the Clan Invasion, the worst thing that happened to them was the destruction of the Warlock plant by “terrorists” which never were apprehended or claimed responsibility.

Recent history

Ceres Metals Industries has benefitted heavily from the end of the Jihad, having acquired a factory from the Word of Blake. The Martinson Armaments factory on Liberty was dismantled and moved to Capellan space. Ceres gained a lot of technical knowledge from this move, especially in automated production capabilities. They unfortunately have not been able to replicate the Celestial series OmniMechs despite attempts to do so.

The destruction of the Warlock facilities would have been critical to Ceres Metals Industries. Luckily for them, all important production from that location had been copied and moved to other locations. Trying to get their insurance payout from Lloyd’s of New London, Pinkerton investigators could not find proof of wrongdoing from Ceres, but no proof of the participation of Free Capella or other terrorist organizations.

Jaded Mandarin Controversy

Modern issues for Ceres came from the rampant nepotism. The whole Jaded Mandarin Affair led to the company to lose a lot of prestige and reputation. New weapons and equipment built by Ceres often were sub-par or even completely defective. By the time of the Capellan – Star League War, this had gotten so bad that international press had started coming out to talk about this whole situation. Daoshen Liao did order a purge of the leadership of Ceres, but the underlying issues from it could have a lasting impact for years, or even decades, to come.

Production plants

The primary facility for Ceres remains their Capella operation. It has been operating at full capacity since the early 3080s, producing all forms of advanced weaponry.

The Indicass facility was part of the St. Ives compact for a short period and focuses on standard combat vehicles.

The Lockton in the Magistracy of Canopus primarily produced RetroTech designs but have modernized some of their production lines. Recent additions to the facility include a production line for the Gun OmniMech.

The facilities on Menke concentrates on building the Po and Po II battle tanks for the CCAF.

The factory on Sian focuses mostly on the construction of heavy BattleMechs, with new production lines being added when needed.

The St.Ives facilities have begun recovering from the damage it suffered during the Jihad in the early 32nd century. It focuses heavily on the production of the Blackjack, Phoenix Hawk and OmniMech BlackJack.

A minor facility on Tikonov is used to provide spare parts to other local companies and produces a limited number of basic vehicles.

The retrotech facility of Ward was recommissioned during the late Republican era to provide standard BattleMechs to various second-line regiments and allied mercenary commands. The facility was modernized to “succession war” standards.
