Tormano Liao’s granddaughter Liao Xiaolin cares very little for politics, war or anything even remotely dealing with anything “Capellan”. Living on backwater Davion worlds off her family’s wealth, she spent most of her time grooming horses, participating in fashion shows, and sleeping up until noon while partying until 4 in the morning. Her parents never even attempted to enroll her into any of the military academies in the Federated Suns, knowing that she would not “fit the mold” at all.

Her “job” generally was to advertise various products for small to medium corporations, her biggest contract being with Renault-Peugeot Automotive in promoting one of their line of “town cars”. Unfortunately for her, the Capellan Confederation was falling apart by 3153.

Free Capella and the St.Ives Revolt

While they had rejoined the Capellan state nearly 80 years ago, the St.Ives communality was still a hotbed of Free Capella operatives and such. In a protest against the military action of Daoshen Liao, a small nuclear device was detonated on St.Ives. In reaction, the Davion forces in the Capellan March moved in quickly in the St.Ives area to secure the various factories and weapon plants in the general area. As a mean to “legitimize” their action, Liao Xiaolin was paraded as the new Duchess of St.Ives, a title she accepted as her spending stipend would be increased by a salary paid by MIIO . With no real knowledge of how to play politics, Xiaolin is simply a figurehead for St.Ives, and when Daoshen was removed from power, Davion Intelligence pushed for her to be regarded as a potential replacement, but they were undermined by Clan Wolf’s own candidate, Liao Jie Xu.
