Sgt. Slaughter’s Background

Robert “Sgt. Slaughter” Rudolph Remus is a tale of glory, fall and rebirth, never through any fault of his
own. The young Solarian Bobby Remus was destined to work in factories of his home world or other
blue-collar work when he was discovered by a talent scout for a Solaris VII Professional Arena
Championship, a “staged fight” organization on the World of Games at the age of 21.

For 2 years, he worked as an extra and “jobber” on the regular show, learning how to pilot a battlemech
at the same time. His big break came when he was seen behind the scenes yelling at another group of
extras who had messed up a scene, all the while wearing what could only be described as “a drill
sergeant outfit”. So was born Sgt. Slaughter, who became a massive star almost overnight. The
talent agency spared no expense on the new star, providing him a brand new THG-11E Thug and decent
bookings and work schedules. His biggest feud was a fight with eternal rival, “Stefan Amaris” and his
customized Banshee, who people for a time thought had broken out of kayfabe and into real life (this
was not true, as both men are fast friends to this day).

Catastrophe struck due to a terrible idea by PAC head honcho, Vincenzo Macadia, decided to change
Remus’s gimmick into being a Clan sympathizer at the start of the Clan invasion. Sgt. Slaughter was
a company man and followed directions, but when the death threats (and actual assassination attempt)
started, the man had to go into hiding and received little support from the company. His career was
pretty much over, and he was given his ‘mech as a parting gift, along with a pat on the back. While most
men would have let depression set in and drunk their winnings away or retired in seclusion, this was not
for Sergeant Slaughter.

Without much experience in any other job, Robert Remus saw an advertisement for service in the AFFC
and decided to enroll. He had played a sergeant on TV long enough, now was the time for him to
become an actual sergeant. The AFFC media corps originally wanted him to go on the road with
recruitment teams and such, but Sergeant Slaughter had had enough of the media and the limelight,
now it was the time for him to actually show he could fight. While his callsign would remain “Sergeant
Slaughter”, he achieved a basic lieutenant commission in a year, before working as hard as he could to
rise in the ranks, reaching the rank of Leftnant-Colonel in record time due to a mix of personality,
command skills and ability to train recruits in a matter of days.

It was this talent in training which attracted General Hawk to Leftenant-Colonel Remus, who was more
than happy to join the GI Joe as an advisor… when he is not leading from the front. His special unit,
Slaughter’s Marauders and the Renegades, is special even amongst the specialists of GI Joe. Specializing
in integrating other military units, even converting Cobra soldiers to the ranks of the Joes, Sergeant
Slaughter’s unit is a symbol of courage under adversity and fixing yourself before you fix others.

Outside of his activity as an officer version of a drill sergeant, Robert Rudolph Remus is a calm man, to
the surprise of many. He enjoys his family life, raising his 2 sons alone after his wife passed away from
cancer, along with spending time in nature. Another one of his pastime is “rapid painting” using a wet-
on-wet technique with oil paints, with many of the other Joes enjoying watching him painting “happy
little trees”.
