HAIL COBRA!

Intersideral Terrorists are rare. Some organizations like the Skye Liberation Front are almost timeless, but this is more of a political movement. Cobra, on the hand, has come into the limelight just as the Clan Invasion ended, as Cobra Commander made his public appearance. GI Joe has been fighting them for longer, with General Hawk slowly inching his way in their organization.

Unlike the Joes, Cobra doesn’t care who they recruit. The second son of a noble family who will not get the prize, or the family mech? The guy who is the 2% behind the top 1% of the best of the best athlete? The Liao who never caught become a citizen? The Arkhab legionnaire who failed his drug test? Cobra will take you in. They will break you down and build you back up to be the perfect recruit, indoctrinated and ready to sacrifice himself for the cause. And the cause is simple: destroy the Inner Sphere and have it become the new empire which the Commander wants.

Cobra-La

Of course, there is more to it than this. Cobra has always been around, infiltrating humanity and making sure it did what they would want, in the name of Emperor Globulus, ther eternal lord of Cobra-La. This ancient civilization of snakemen comes from prehistoric times and has been fought against by the best and brightest of mankind from the Hyborian Age. After the destruction of Atlantis, the original Cobra-La moved to what would become Tibet and hid from the humans who were hunting them, until they were forgotten. Then their work at infiltrating and subverting humanity began again. Their latest “faceman” is one Thomas Marik, who they molded into the perfect leader for a desperate humanity.

Clan Cloud Cobra

Cobra-La has been trying to infiltrate all of humanity, so when General Kerensky did Operation EXODUS, a number of their infiltrators came with them. When Nicholas founded the Clans, Clan Cloud Cobra and Steel Viper had the majority of the infiltrators setup within them. Over time, they controlled the destruction of Clan Wolverine and Clan Widowmaker, who had learned of their existence. Later on, Clan Mongoose realized just what had happened and let themselves “be destroyed” to fight the Cobra-La presence. Now, Cloud Cobra is trying to take over all of the Clans with their newest genetic creation, Serpentor Khan.
