First Lyran Guard Division

The First Lyran Guard Division was formed at the onset of the Fifth Succession War to centralize the military command of the Furillo / Tamarind region under Caesar Steiner. They are composed of multiple mech, armor and aerospace regiments and squadrons and meant to defend the region from aggression from the Free Worlds League. They are remarkably well equipped, receiving supplies from Donegal and Furillo to reinforce their unit.
Veteran pilots in the First Lyran Guard Division generally have SPAs like Cluster Hitter, Sandblaster or Range Master (Medium). Elite pilots often have SPAs like Sniper, Dodge or Speed Demon.
The First Lyran Guard Division has access to 3 detachment types:
Garrison Detachments are units meant to defend worlds or occupy a planet until relief force comes in. They are specialized in siege warfare and fire support. ‘Mechs whose role is Missile Boat or Sniper (Fire Support) are considered Core unit for this detachment. Fast Heavy (5/8 or faster) and Cavalry Medium ‘Mechs (6/9 or faster or 5/8 with jump jets) are considered Special units. Any other unit is considered a Rare unit.
Assault Detachments are units that Caesar Steiner deploys in strikes against the Marik Militia… or Steiner rebels. They focus on mobility and hit and run tactics. Fast Mediums and Fast Heavy ‘mechs make up the Core units of this regiment. Light ‘mechs in general are considered a Special unit, but faster lights are favored. Any Assault ‘mech or slow heavy ‘mechs are considered Rare units.
Line regiments are more typical Steiner units, focusing on heavy, standing firepower. Regular heavy (4/6 or slower) and Assault ‘mechs make up the Core of these units, with Medium ‘mechs and fast heavies being considered Special. Light ‘mechs and fast mediums (6/9 or faster) are considered Rare units.

Battle Armors
Battle Armors were still very rare during early Fifth Succession War, with adoption increasing during most of the war. Thankfully, the First Lyran Guard Division was considered essential to the war effort and were provided Battle Armor in larger amounts. During the Early Fifth Succession War, Battle Armors are considered Rare support choice, while they become a Special support choice in the later portion of the war.

Conventional Infantry
Conventional infantry remains the bulk of the numbers of the First Lyran Guard Division, with standard laser rifle platoons being the most common troop type. All infantry count as a Core support asset, getting a free Troop transport upgrade in Assault Detachments. Jump infantry is considered a Special support asset in most detachments, but is a Core support asset in Assault detachments.
Aerospace Fighters
While specific Aerospace squadrons were part of the First Lyran Guard Division, Caesar Steiner moved the various assets to individual commands to make sure ASF assets would be available when needed. In Assault Detachment, aerospace fighters are a Core support asset, while it is a Special support asset in other detachment types.
VTOL
Lockheed-CBM of Furillo provided heavy VTOL support to the First Lyran Guard Division, making VTOL rather common in moder Garrison and Line detachments, counting as a Core support asset. Assault Detachment being mostly in movements in dropships, VTOL support was not as common, counting as a Special support asset.
