A partially-owned subsidiary of Independence Weaponry and local investors, Telfar is a minor manufacturer located on Midway III. Telfar does not own any proprietary designs and specializes in providing spare parts for existing designs the DCMS uses. Their factory is out of the way in a planetary inversion zone, which actually protects it from raids and other nefarious individuals. Recent investments by the DCMS has expanded Telfar BattleMech’s production to include new models.

Recent History

Telfar BattleMechs was one of the many minor manufacturers affected directly by the Republic of the Sphere’s military drawdown. As the DCMS needed to “disarm”, they ordered multiple companies to stop production of new machines and focus only on spare parts and repair kits. With the damage on Midway Shipyards still being repaired, this had a direct impact on the local workforce and led to massive unemployment.

With unrest on the rise, Telfar began producing IndustrialMechs by buying licenses from other manufacturers thanks to Independence Weaponry. The production lines for the Lynx and Maelstrom pumped out construction machines and loaders for most of the start of the 32nd century.

Gray Monday was a blessing for the small manufacturer, as the DCMS sent multiple ships to advise them to restart production of their flagship models. These ships also brought in the production specifications for modern Jenner and Panther, which the DCMS wanted them to put in production as quickly as possible. By 3145, Telfar BattleMech was one of the largest employer on Midway.

Manufacturing

Midway

The facilities on Midway have been expanded since Gray Monday, with new licenses being approved by the DCMS for production and restoration of existing equipment.

Effective Technology Level

Telfar BattleMechs reproduces existing equipment and only has a very limited research and development budget. Their understanding of “BattleMech technology” comes from the licenses they acquired and have been executing orders on. Telfar does not have an endo-steel production mill but can build advanced components for Inner Sphere XL engines and Double heat sinks. They recently acquired a ferro-fibrous foundry and printing equipment for their new production contract on the Jenner.
