Pax Maria

Pax Maria is a terrorist organization and military outfit in the Marian Expanse. They come from the freedom fighters in the Lothian League trying to free their nation from Hegemony rule. In 3128, the Lothian League was granted independence after the death of the Caesar on Logan Prime. The current leader of Pax Maria, Marisol Logan, refused this new status quo and continued fighting the Marians until she was killed in 3129 on New Venice. Her daughter, Tiamat Logan, took control of the movement afterwards.

History

Pax Maria began as a minor university movement against the Marian Hegemony on Lothario. Both Clarissa and Marisol Logan were active in the movement, recruiting other patricians to oppose Marian rule and oppression. The movement turned into a full-grown terrorist movement in 3111 after Marisol Logan stole armored vehicles from the Lothario police. Her and her supporters attacked a constabulary and killed 26 people, including 4 civilians.

Pax Maria grew in boldness and power over the next few years, generally through theft of Marian equipment. Clarissa Logan distanced herself from her sister to legitimize their requests to the Caesar. Pax Maria, on their side, continued with high stakes terrorist actions, from mail bombing to kidnapping/assassinations. Many analysts believe that a peace treaty could have been achieved earlier between an independent Lothian League and the Marian Hegemony if not for the actions of Pax Maria.

After the Lothian independence.

After the peace was signed between the two Marian Expanse party, Marisol Logan continued her actions. She was finally caught by the MHAF on New Venice, where she was executed. Her daughter Tiamat Logan took over the organization and pushed it even more towards radical actions. Pax Maria went from only fighting the Marian Hegemony to also taking on “traitors to the ideals of Lothia” within the League. Car bombs and mail bombs became a frequent occurrence on Lothario. This forced Clarissa Logan to distance herself from Pax Maria completely.

To stay well-equipped and financed, Tiamat and Pax Maria have been performing acts of piracy against other local independent worlds and the Free Worlds League. While some in Nelson’s Longbow originally supported them, they have distanced themselves since the late 3149 after some Pax Maria terrorists murdered a local politician for “making deals with the enemy”.

These terrorists usually uses stolen BattleMechs and vehicles, with their original camouflage or paint scheme accented by pink or purple paint, with a crossed out Roman eagle spray painted on.

Battle Armor forces

Pax Maria runs a very limited number of Battle Armors stolen from the Marian Hegemony. Most of them are Inner Sphere Standard (Light Recoiless Rifle or Machine Gun) or Ravagers. The remainder of the infantry forces as are generally partisan forces armed with standard rifles or laser rifles, whichever are available at the time.

Vehicle forces

As with most local powers, Tiamat Logan’s forces has access to the H-7B Warrior and Hawkmoth VTOL. For their conventional tank forces, they use mainly the Scorpion (Armor) and Vedette (Ultra), supported by Pike (AC5) and Manticore. For cavalry work, they employ the J.Edgar (LAC), Gladius Mk II and Fulcrum hovertanks stolen from Marian sources.
