Clarence Miller, Marian Hegemony, I Legio

Clarence Miller is the current commander-in-chief of the Marian Hegemony Armed Forces. While Ignatius Caesar is the political head of the Hegemony, unlike his father and grand-father before him, he is not directly a military person. Clarencius Miller was a close friend of the previous I Legio commander, and when he passed in 3138, Ignatius O’Reilly named him as new commander. Clarence Imperator is not the most flexible or skilled of commander, but he has a head for numbers and understands the needs of his troops.

From a Patrician family, Clarence Miller owns a parcel of land on Pompey, along with a fire opal mine. This combination of personal wealth and military power scares some of the other senators, especially those closely tied to the O’Reilly family. While apparently loyal to the Caesar, there are always situations which could make this problematic.

Background

Clarence Miller comes from a rich Patrician family from Pompey. His great results in the national tests at the end of his educational period led him to join the military. He found an esprit de corp there which had been missing since his youth and rose in the ranks steadily. He became the aide to the former commander of I Legio and served effectively as a Executive Officer. When Heraldus Kron passed away, Miller took over the reigns.

During the late Republican era of the 3140s, I Legio was mostly deployed as a defensive outfit on Alphard and the surrounding worlds. In response, Clarencius Imperator hired a mercenary outfit to defend his interests on Pompey. This made multiple Senators mad, seeing this as a power grab by the Imperator, but Ignatius Caesar calmed everyone down. Caesar O’Reilly was happy to see his general take responsibility of his own rather than spending the Hegemony’s troops.

I Legio participated in the War of Marian Aggression in a defensive manner. Clarence Miller deployed his troops mainly to fight against raids done by mercenary outfits and the Tamarind Regulars. He also made sure the various legions deployed at the front were properly equipped for the fights ahead.

Clarence Miller’s BattleMech

Clarence Miller pilots a MAD-6C Marauder II while in battle, but also owns a Centurion with a full body kit to make it look like a Roman soldier.
