Achernar is one of the largest corporations in the Federated Suns. While their military output is massive, their main source of income is civil equipment like IndustrialMechs and personal use fusion engines. Many car and truck manufacturing companies, like Renault-Peugeot and Mitsubishi, purchase large number of engines from Achernar, providing them with a massive cashflow.

Nonetheless, Achernar is still a major military supplier to the AFFS. Their speciality really lies in the medium ‘mech lines, along with more simple, rugged designs. Achernar designed and built the first mobile Endo-Steel Mill in the early 32nd century. This reduced the downtime for production which could be caused by damage to their orbital endo-steel mills.

Recent History

Achernar BattleMechs mostly recovered from the Jihad by the start of the 32nd century. The AFFS taxed their production capacity due to their multiple disastrous campaign, like the Victoria War. Starting in 3120, Achernar started construction of a new facility on Chirikof, “away from any of the front lines”. With the loss of New Avalon to the Combine, this became a major source revenue for the company. The Combine attempted to “steal” the facilities on New Avalon by putting them under control of Luthien Armor Works. It was through Lloyd’s of New London that Achernar was able to keep control of their facilities, even though they were left in abeyance until the planet was retaken by the AFFS. Facilities on the planet of Achernar are under control of the Capellan Confederation, but its output was still sold in the Federated Suns.

From the facilities on Chirikof, Achernar has been pushing new models for the AFFS. Two are simple OmniMech versions of the Osiris and Argus , both of which were originally planned but never reached production. Another one is the RX-78 Amuro, a design based off Operation Zeta designs from the Fidelis and Republic of the Sphere.
