Seventeenth Avalon Hussars

The Seventeenth Avalon Hussars is one of the units with a long legacy in the AFFS. They were originally a full Regimental Combat Team, but during the Jihad had to be reconfigured into a Light Combat Team. A series of poor military decisions and defeat has made the Seventeenth Hussars one of the down on their luck regiment of the AFFS, begging for new equipment.

Recent history

The 17^th Hussars have had a rough time since the start of the 32^nd century. During the Victoria War, they defended Kittery but were driven off-world after serious losses. Their only major win after that was a raid on Warlock where they managed to capture significant amounts of war materiel.

The Seventeenth was almost destroyed when they faced the Second St.Ives Sentinel on Fortymile. The loss of one of their major DropShip asset stranded the Seventeenth on that world for a while as well, and with how much damage they suffered, they weren’t expected to recover quickly, if at all.

Rebuilding yet again

In response to this, Leftenant General Suttikul sat with the people at Achernar, GM and with Clan Sea Fox to replenish their forces as quickly as possible as the Davion Reconquista began. Their infantry force was upgraded to various forms of Battle Armor to increase their toughness, while OmniVehicles and OmniMechs were prioritized.

Clan Sea Fox was happy to offload a lot of “old” OmniMechs to the Seventeenth Avalon Hussars without pod equipment. Things like Coyotl, Lupus and Omni-Corvis have been somewhat common in this unit nowadays.

Even with steady resupply, the unit is operating at about 75% efficiency, but the majority their equipment is modern as it is being replaced. They feature more Battle Armors than many other LCTs, and as such request more omnimech replacements than other formations. A deal struck with Clan Sea Fox to provide them with “low-grade” Clan omnimech improved the quality of their equipment significantly.

Seventeenth Avalon Hussars military colors

The Seventeenth Hussars’ ‘Mechs are painted in gray with dark crimson highlights. The saturation of the gray varies per individual sub-command. The Federated Suns insignia and unit insignia is always proudly displayed on them.
