Greenhaven Gestapo

The Greenhaven Gestapo is better known for the numerous war crimes they committed in service of Stefan Amaris during the Amaris Civil War. While the military unit was broken on Terra by the SLDF. The survivors from the unit that were captured were prosecuted for war crimes after the civil war was over. However, a group of them under Captain Bernard Critchly found their way into the Rim Worlds Republic in Exile. They were originally not welcome by Drakuun Heisenberg, who saw them as dangerous rogue elements, but the Amaris family had respect for those who had sacrificed much for their former leader. The Greenhaven Gestapo would evolve from being a mercenary outfit into a form of secret police, taking inspiration from their nickname.

History

Having fled Terra, Bernard Critchly knew he would be tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity if he ever was caught. Learning of the Republican national having fled the Inner Sphere, him and his reinforced company landed on Promise after the signing of the new Constitution of the Republic. First Minister Drakuun Heisenberg had no love for “The Ogre”, but he was allowed to stay with his men, who worked on finding new meaning to their lives.

Unlike many former military officers who went into business, Critchly approached the remnants of the Rim Worlds intelligence service, AsRoc. There, he peddled his skills as a brutal “para-military police” to keep the peace in the new Republic. Critchly was not taken very seriously, but he transformed his ragtag band of mercenaries into the first form of the secret state police of the Republic.

From that point onwards, the Greenhaven Geheime Stastspolizei became the “men in black” of the Republic, a tale used to scare misbehaving children, and a warning to every corrupt politician and businessman. Outside the legal system, the Greenhaven Gestapo uses their extra-judicial power to interrogate, torture and “right the ship” of detractors of the Amaris regime. Directly reporting to AsRoc but even more to the Amaris family, the Gestapo wears black uniforms with green highlights.

Tactics

The Greenhaven Gestapo generally does not go into pitched fights, serving as the secret police for the Amaris regime. When they are required to fight, they are specialist in hidden deployments and ambushes, along with activating infiltrated assets to cause damage before the fight.

Composition

The Greenhaven Gestapo command a single regiment of BattleMechs and battle armor. This is supported by multiple DropShips, along with The Black Ship, a Black Lion-class WarShip where most of the extra-legal activities are performed.
