Zeno Laskaris, Capellan Confederation, Capellan - Star League War

Zeno Laskaris began his career as a MechWarrior already acting as a political officer for the Capellan Hussars. Thanks to his constant attention to details and meticulous application of military law, the young man rose through the ranks quickly. When combined with his dedication to the Capellan Confederation, Zeno Laskaris was viewed as a perfect candidate to lead the recreated 7th Capellan Chargers.

Operation GREAT FLOOD

Having been remustered for a strike against the Republic of the Sphere, the 7th Capellan Chargers served as one of the “hidden lion” regiment, supplementing other front line units and confusing Republic intelligence. Unlike many of the lion regiments, the 7th Capellan was used more often as a battering ram than as a scalpel, fighting both the RAF and the Federated Suns Swordsworn. Throughout this period, Zeno Laskaris kept showing great promise and superior command skill. Both Daoshen Liao (internal) and Danai Liao (internal) personally gave him medals for his service in that period.

Operation CELESTIAL REWARD

Zeno Laskaris and his 7th Chargers were critical during the strikes against the Federated Suns between 3144 and 3145, which were called Operation CELESTIAL REWARD. Laskaris led raids on Salem and Kathil, damaging GM’s facilities producing new Marauders. He was countered by Marek Dzuiba (internal) of the 8th Avalon Hussars, which managed to prevent Shang-Shao Lascaris from scoring additional victories in the general vicinity. Still, these daring assaults increased the prestige of the 7th Chargers, and their commander.

Capellan – Star League War

As a true front-line regiment, the 7th Capellan Chargers were assigned to Sirius immediately as the fighting started. Fighting a rotation of skilled Wolf Galaxy Commanders, Zeno Laskaris began realizing they were outmatched. A significant amount of their supplies was defective or sub-par due to the Jaded Mandarin Affair which was ongoing. He also noticed the Wolves had better “troop rotation” than the CCAF, with more fresh troop being brought to the front while others were given R&R time.

Focusing on the task at hand, Zeno Laskaris kept his Augmented Regiment busy with raids and deep strikes against Wolf positions, where he discovered the unusually large amount of war materiel the Wolves were able to accumulate due to their logistics chain. As the fighting bogged down, Shang-Shao Laskaris brought this up to Daoshen Liao, who rebuffed him and redirected the 7th Charger to an even more dangerous position on the front line.

A month later, Zeno Laskaris and his command company were captured by Clan Smoke Jaguar’s elite White Death unit. He expected to be taken as a bondsman, but he was kept as a regular prisoner by the Fidelis forces. A prisoner exchange for multiple Liao officers were done near the end of the conflict, including Zeno Laskaris.

Zeno Laskaris’s Battlemech

Zeno Laskaris piloted a Lu Wei Bing before his capture. Having returned to the CCAF, he was issued a new Emperor.
