Jacinda DeVega (originally Wolf)

Jacinda DeVega (originally Wolf) wasn’t meant to amount to much. From her early days in her sibko, she barely managed to not wash out, her Trial of Position allowing her to test into being a Mechwarrior thanks to a single kill. While her career as a solhama commander grew over the years, it was mostly due to other officers either retiring or dying and Jacinda being the only one “willing” to take the job. As the Battle of Terra came close, Jacinda lost a leg in a battle against pirates, leaving her in command of a derelict garrison on Campbelton.

Ambush on Campbelton

With a regrown limb and time on her hand, Jacinda drilled the garrison of Campbelton into reasonable shape, giving new trials to some infantrymen, paramilitary police and other “undesirables” to allow her to at least have a trinary of functional ‘mech defenders on the planet, as the local corporate security force now outnumbered the Clan defenders almost two to one. Jacinda did make friend with the local corporate commander, Gaelan Childs, which was happy to let Fusigon Heavy Weaponry security force serve as “aggressors” during blank-fire exercise. Fusigon also lent their facilities to repair and re-equip a number of IIC ‘mechs for the Wolf garrison, at at very competitive rate.

Disaster struck when a Wolf’s Dragoons jumpship came into the system, carrying the remnants of troops that had fought on Terra, looking for revenge (and salvage). Jacinda took her 2nd line men and women and formed a defensive perimeter around important installations on the planet, and countered the Dragoon’s strike with meticulous, calculated strikes… while the Fusigon corporate security raided the Dragoon forward bases. For 2 weeks, the three forces played cat and mouse across the planet, In the end, the Dragoons retreated, possibly due to orders from another location.

Meeting with Othar

The command of the defense of the Wolf Empire was in the hands of Star Colonel Othar , and Fusigon sent news to Gienah “in the name of Jacinda” using a corporate Black box. Othar was happy to learn that a few other “capable” officers were still available to him in the Empire. He then arranged a meeting with Jacinda during a counter-attack against FWLM troops on Midkiff . At that point, Othar was impressed by Jacinda’s “derring-do”. Othar named her responsible for raising new forces on Gienah at first, before moving to other worlds where she could employ her skills at finding new recruits, before promoting her to Star Colonel of the new provisional Cluster she raised and trained.

Warrior-Merchant

Jacinda learned from her experience on Campbelton to make friend with corporate units on any world she visited, and this allowed the merchant elements of her unit to always be able to easily locate spare parts and equipment for her unit. Meeting with Khan Stephanie Chistu, Jacinda further learned of the potential power of the Corporate Alliance, which led her to elevate a number of merchants in her service to “higher positions” as long as they struck beneficial deals for the Wolf empire. Later meeting with saKhan Petr Kalasa, Jacinda was complimented by the Sea Fox as to her skills as a “warrior-merchant”.

Jacinda becomes Jacinda DeVega

With the arrival of Loremaster Aberdeen Mehta on Gienah, a number of Trials of Bloodrights were quickly arranged to replenish the number of Bloodnamed warriors in the Clan. Jacinda was allowed to challenge for a DeVega bloodname, which she won over 2 other warriors in a wrestling competition. Now Jacinda DeVega, she was given a position in Othar’s personal guard as a Star Colonel. Jacinda participated in the hunt for the Wolf’s Dragoons, scoring 4 kills against the Tarantula Battalion.

War for Terra Again

Serving under Othar Shaw, Jacinda DeVega was deployed on the Capellan front of the Wolf Empire, defending worlds near the borders. Jacinda fought Danai Liao-Centrella once, but neither warriors scored a successful blow against the other.
