Battle of CJF4 (Vengeance) is a scenario for Battletech Vengeance, featuring Pinkerton’s “terror squad”, the Dresden Enforcers, commanded by Major Jack Dresden. In this engagement in the Battle of Alyina, Dresden faces off against the Fox Patrol‘s Katie Ferraro. This is an Historical battle, so the forces are standarized on both sides rather than left to the player’s imaginations, but you can adjust the mission to your liking

Combat area:

Use 4 standard map sheets, placed in a square, preferably 2 rolling hills and 2 city maps. If you are not using map sheets, use a standard 4’x4′ battle area, with one half of the area being a hilly zone and the other being a city zone.

For the city area, put in a number of light buildings, cargo containers and other obstacles around the area.

• Eliminate the Fox Patrol’s leadership (Katie Ferraro, Evan Huxler and Arkee Colorado)

For the Fox Patrol:

• Survive 7 turns.
• Destroy 50% of the attacking force.

Background

In 3152, the Alyina Mercantile Union was requested to rejoin Clan Jade Falcon by Khan Stephanie Chistu. Surprisingly for High Syndic Marena, the batchall to retake her capital comes not from the Clan Warrior caste, but from a corporate security force led by General Anton Paradis, from Pinkerton’s. Dismissing the threat, Marena invites Paradis to “take his best shot”, as Marena has a number of mercenary units protecting Alyina.

Pinkerton’s Security has multiple insurance contracts to investigate and make due on on Alyina as Marena broke a lot of agreements between the Jade Falcons and Lloyd’s of New London, including the apparent theft of the the VaultShips, which in this case is 100% considered a “peacetime theft” between Marena and the previous contract holder, Malvine Hazen. A lot of the production facilities on Alyina were also related to Renault-Peugeot Autom otive, along with their associated worker’s unions, which Marena took over without honoring the necessary agreements. In an attempt to both show good will to the new First Lord of the Star League and his allies, along with making a demonstration of the Corporate Security willingness to act after years of abuse, Anton Paradis orders massive strikes against the Alyina Mercantile Union.

One such strike was to retake Jade Falcon Factory Zone 4, a mobile facility which had been massively reinforced and expanded by Renault-Peugeot over the years thanks to their agreements with the Jade Falcons. Marena had positioned the Lone Wolves mercenaries at the facility to protect it against strikes, seeing how this was her largest asset on the planet. With the equivalent of a battalion of Battlemechs, combat vehicles and aerospace support, Major Heidegger believed he was in a very good position to defend the factory. As a response, Anton Paradis deployed Pinkerton’s terror squad, the Dresden Enforcers battalion, along with artillery support and a comparable aerospace fighter wing. Major Jack Dresden’s role in this operation would be to decapitate the Lone Wolves leadership and cause as much damage as possible to scare the enemies into submission.

As the engagement started, Major Dresden’s command lance was engaged by Katie Ferraro’s Fox Patrol, an independent unit working for the Lone Wolves. While Ferraro was an apt commander, she had never faced corporate security forces, and especially not a man like Jack Dresden.

Historical ending

The battle was quick and destructive for the Fox Patrol, with Jack Dresden focusing fire on Katie’s Kit Fox before performing a death from above on her machine, not even considering the 30-tons omnimech valuable enough to be salvaged. Evan Huxler tried to rescue his commanding officer, but was trapped between the Enforcers paired Firestarters and picked apart. An Inferno Arrow IV missile forced the shutdown of Ramirez’s Marauder, with pilot being cooked alive due to concentrated Plasma rifle fire afterwards. Sergeant Colorado fought bravely against Jack Dresden’s Thor, but was unable to remain functional as his ‘Mech’s heat level were too critical, forcing him to eject.

With some damage to his unit, Dresden was forced to not engaged the Lone Wolves’s command units directly during the engagement, but concentrated his fire on smaller, standard armor units instead.
