Overview:

The Doloire was one of the premium Republican Omnimech, already using a significant amount of Clan-graded technoogy. Chance Vickers quickly approached StarCorps after the conquest of Terra by the ilClan forces in her bid to replenish the depleted Wolf forces. While somewhat reticent at first, the concessions made by the Wolves to corporate entities, especially those part of the MIC and trade/logistics companies, made them reconsider quickly.

While the first production run was still using the basic Doloire setup, Mori Hawker of Clan Sea Fox opened the gates of Clan technology to all Terra-based companies, leading StarCorps to do a quick “IIC” setup for the second production run onwards. With a lighter endo-steel skeleton but not mounting the Actuator Enhancement Systems, the new Doloire IIC was still rather expensive for what should “normally” be a second line ‘mech, but its performance easily matched front-line machines.

It was Knight Commander, and future Khan of the Thunder Boar, Max Ergen who coined the nicknamed “Wild Boar” for the Doloire IIC, because “you have to spear them to stop them”. Ergen, who already piloted the previous version of the Doloire before, adopted the Doloire IIC “Wild Boar” as his personal command ‘mech, and future “first Totem” of the Thunder Boars.

Capabilities:

The Doloire IIC mimics the original Doloire in most things, including most configurations. It uses an XL 320 engine from GM (rather than the original Light Force, in a deal with General Motors by Chance Vickers) to go up to 64kmph, combined with 14 and a half tons of standard compound armor. Hard-mounted on the design are a pair of ER Medium Lasers, but they are setup in an odd “modular compound”, allowing the pilot to flip them over to rear firing during maintenance fairly easily. 12 Double Heat Sinks are built in the OmniMech’s engine.

Outside of this, 39 tons of pod space is available for the design, almost half the ‘mechs weight.

Deployment:

The Doloire IIC first real claim to fame was during the Battle of Yorii, in which Clan Hell’s Horses challenged the ilClan to a Trial of Possession for Terra. While most Clan pilots accompanying Alaric Ward to this battle were equipped with the very best Clan Wolf could afford, the “irregulars” which would later form Clan Thunder Boar were mainly equipped with the “Terra-built” IIC ‘mechs. Commanders and officers generally were given the best pick of the lot, and many of them jumped on the opportunity to use the “brand-new” Doloire IIC. First amongst them was Max Ergen, the commanding officer of the entire “irregular” force, which was happy to pilot his original OmniMech once again.

In hit and fade strikes, ambushes and deep patrol, Ergen crippled multiple stars of Hell’s Horses vehicles and challenged multiple Star Commanders, proving that he was as pig-headed as his family crest, which later became the symbol of Clan Thunder Boar.

Variants:

The Prime version of the Doloire IIC copies the setup from the original design, with a Gauss Rifle and 2 tons of ammo in the right torso and a pair of Large Pulse Lasers in the arms. 2 additional ER Medium Lasers are underslung to the Large Pulse Lasers, with all those weapons being tied to a Targeting Computer. A basic ECM suite protects against enemy EWAR equipment.

Configuration Alpha uses a pair of Plasma Cannon to become a powerful infantry and vehicle hunter. This is combined with a pair of Streak 6-tubes SRM, allowing for devastating anti-tank punch. Against harder targets, Alpha also mounts 2 Large Pulse Lasers. To help with detection and protection, a Watchdog
CEWS
is employed.

Configuration Bravo again copies the original Doloire B configuration, with a pair of ER PPCs in the left arm and a Clan-graded Rotary AC/5 with 5 tons of ammunition in the opposite arm. Again, a Watchdog CEWS is used as well.

Configuration Charle is a derivative of the original Doloire C, with a Streak 20-rack LRM in the arm and 3 Streak 6-tubes SRM, one in the torso and the other two hip-mounted. The left arm mounts a 6 tons Hatchet for close-combat, with an ER Large Laser to help with sniping purpose in the associated torso. Still, a Watchdog CEWS is mounted, at Max Ergen’s request.

Configuration Delta’s main weapons are a pair of shoulder-mounted Plasma Rifles, which support a mammoth 12-tubes ATM in the right arm. The left arm mounts a retractable blade / ER Medium Laser combo. Again, a Watchdog CEWS is employed for EWAR purpose.
