Apple Computers Interstellar has been around since the early space age, an evolution of the Apple Corporation from old Terra. Buying Dekros from the Federated Suns and renaming it Macintosh, Apple has setup their organization on this world and invested significant resources in keeping it “out of the mind’s eye” while providing computing equipment to just about everyone at a fresh markup advertising it as “close to Star League technology”.
Apple expanded its market by building military-grade targeting and tracking equipment and communications equipment both to Clan and Inner Sphere customers since the Clan Invasion, with their advances in C3 technology giving them a significant lead in that market portion. The fact the Word of Blake did not pay the licensing fee for the C3i technology was more of an issue to Apple than the fact they glassed entire worlds.
Republic Era and ilClan era
Apple Computers reacted to the Clarion Note the same way as most massive corporation, with panicking at first followed by trying to figure out how to improve their lot. Black Box communication equipment quickly became on of Apple’s biggest seller to other corporate markets, especially for the Galactic Stock Ticker system to maintain an idea of where stocks were standing. Dr. Melir Radis was apparently hired by various competitors to prevent such equipment from being effectively used by spreading some misinformation on the matter, but Apple was content with that as it led to their equipment being purchased by other “like-minded” corporations rather than the Inner Sphere powers.
Apple also is part of the investment group focusing on the repair of HPG uplinks and recreation of new hub stations for commercial communication with Clan Sea Fox, CGIL and IBM. Trade between Clan Sea Fox and Apple continues to increase as better computing equipment becomes available, including more and more reliable Black Boxes and computer terminals.
Battlemech technology
Apple in the Republic Era also invested in the production of their own military division, mainly setup for selling corporate security equipment, ranging from the iWarhammer 0.5 and 1.0 and more recently the TRA and TRA3G Wraith. By 3151, the production plants on McIntosh also began producing a customized version of the Emperor, the EMP-8S+.
