Del Monte Security Lance, Archer

Overview:

Del Monte’s Archer number 1, the Archer ARC-2DM, began its life as a field refit for unit commanders in the Del Monte Security Forces until Del Monte acquired the rights to produce the ‘mech, under license, from Earthwerks. Prioritizing “security” over firepower, a lot of strange changes are made on the base design, at least as far as a normal military commander would look at it. A lot of the ARC-2DM are meant to carry “speciality ammo” for their LRM racks to serve in a multitude of roles in anti-terrorist, anti-pirate and counterinsurgency operations.

Capabilities:

The main firepower of the Archer ARC-2DM comes from 6 Doombud 5-rack LRMs mounted in the shoulders, allowing for more precision fire and controlled fire than the larger Doombud 20-racks. To complement this are the 4 standard medium lasers, generally with the 2 center torso mounted ones pointing backwads. Each arm also mounts a Sperry Browning 7.62mm machine gun to take care of infantry
threats. The ARC-2DM also mounts additional heat sinks compared to the standard Archer, allowing it to better control it’s temperature.

Overview:

The evolution of Del Monte’s proprietary heavy mech, Del Monte’s Archer Number 2, the ARC-2DMd, takes for a basis the “Royal Archer”, allowing them to save weight on both heat sinks using double heat sinks and an endo-steel skeleton. Early models of this mech used medium pulse lasers, but it also became a testbed machine for the new X-Pulse laser technology, with Diverse Optics paying Del Monte to actually use their proprietary technology in their mech to test it.

A vast improvement over the original ARC-2DM, Del Monte concentrated on building almost exclusively this model once it became available.

Capabilities:

The 2DMd drops the rear facing medium lasers to add an Active Probe linked to the sensors of the Archer to allow it to find hidden units and cut through basic ECM which had become more common amongst terrorist forces at the time of their introduction.

Otherwise, the machine adds a pair of 2-tubes SRM with 2 tons of ammo, generally a variety of speciality rounds, to serve better at shorter ranges. The 6 times 5-rack LRM are still mounted in the shoulders with 4 tons of various speciality rounds. The Archer ARC-2DMd forearms are equipped with an
anti-infantry 7.62mm Sperry Browning machine gun and a medium x-pulse laser.

Variants:

DMdECM: Replaces the Beagle Active Probe with a Guardian ECM unit. Only about 10% of the produced DMd are equipped this way, but the modification kit is available to any commander in Del Monte Security allowing the machines to be “hot-swapped” with minimal tech work.
