Warlord Carro Armato/Semovente
Warlord Carro Armato/Semovente is a kit they are selling for Konflikt ’47 and Bolt Action, retailing at around 50 USD. It is also part of the Italian base army kit (which is really your best value for money). It is also available as a platoon of 3, for 99$ (you get one free, basically). The kit can be assembled as a mobile field gun (Semovente) or a light/medium tank (Carro Armato).
Where I got it
As I said in a previous review, I made an order to play Bolt Action with a friend of mine, getting myself a set of Italians. Carro Armato/Semovente comes in the base box, so I was happy, and wanted to build it as a medium tank (even though it honestly is a light tank). I will review the rest of the box at some point, but I am happy with the sheer amount of stuff you get in one box here, which is more than enough to play normal games.
Some assembly required
As opposed to the AB41 which was a solid block of resin with some assembly required, this is basically a model kit like you would buy from Revell or Tamiya, just scaled WAY down. And that is where the problems start. You get two sprues, and I have to say they are not too tightly packed and decently made. But everything on it is so small it’s not even funny. Some things are also held by duct tape and prayers on them, and go flying with you just manipulating the sprue. I didn’t lose anything critical, but close.
Not great assembly, to be honest
The threads should be rubber, and not a plastic assembly. Can’t remember which company does it like that, but it’s so much better than having to glue bits and parts of a darn thread. The threads here were not TOO bad mind you.
The body of the tank is where the problem started. Something just didn’t fit right as I tried to assemble things, fought with it, and I ended up with a small hole on a side because things just didn’t fit right. Is it my fault? Possibly. Maybe I messed something up, but I can’t tell what. Green stuff might save the day.
Things got worst when I got to the turret. It felt like parts were not assembling properly, not lining up as they should. While I managed to get things together, it just didn’t look good because of multiple attempts at getting everything to stick together.
Where I stand now
Will I buy another kit like this? I’m not sure. Perry has a line of resin tanks in the same scale, and 50$ for a model kit like this is rough on my finances. That’s a full box of Conquest models, in the end. My hobby dollars might be better spent there. Would I buy other RESIN kits from Warlord? Absolutely. An odd conundrum.
