Warlord Autoblinda AB41, for Bolt Action
Getting into Bolt Action (also designing my own WW2 inspired game), the first thing I had to do was get in on that Italian action. This dates from an old habit I had playing Axis and Allies minis to go with the minor factions rather than the “big boys” because I wanted to be different. So this time, I got a basic starter box with a bunch of little soldier guys, along with Warlord Autoblinda AB41 to complement the unit, because yeah… Italians need all the help they can get.
Pricing
28mm kits are not super common for WW2, as Tamiya and Revell’s kits are all “larger” with 1/35 (58mm) being the most common in my experience. Perry Miniatures also makes some in their Blitzkrieg line, but Warlord’s stuff is probably the “easiest” to get, as there are stockists for them around. Here in southern Quebec, I think Abyss was the easiest for me to get, especially with some free shipping options on larger shipments. Those are not the CHEAPEST models, mind you, but Bolt Action doesn’t require you to collect an entire panzer division or regiment of infantry, and unless I wanted to make a super heavy division of tanks, it would still be cheaper than a lot of games (outside skirmish games like Conquest First Blood).
Quality
The model itself has a decent sculpt, a mix of resin for the body and turret (minimal clean up required) and metal for the wheels. The resin did require some clean up, at least for the turret, but it is somewhat tough, more interesting than many resin kits out there. White metal parts needed a bit of clean up, but nothing out of the ordinary. It is strongly built, and look good once assembled. Impressed with the quality, to be honest, well worth the investment.
We’ll look at the more Warlord Games later!
